What are the tests that prove peri-menopause

And what are the treatments?

Can one set of blood tests prove it, or do you need tests on certain days?
What are they actually looking for?

Can they test for it. I heard they couldn't test as your hormone levels fluctuate too much

The real question should be 'why test for it?'
It's not an illness.

Unless you have another illness that is masquerading as the peri meno ( and that illness would need treatment) then there is no reason to test for something that is a natural stage of life. (We don't test for puberty.)

You might and should be tested if you were having a premature menopause as you'd need HRT until age 52 at least.

Blood tests then are twice a month- start of cycle and mid cycle.

Info here on what is tested

Thanks pink
That makes it a bit clearer
I have every symptom on there, except for the sweats and dryness

Waiting for blood test results, but I wasn't told to go on any particular date.

Why test? Because the gp is not going to prescribe any kind of HRT unless it's proven, is he?

I really feel like I need some help
My husband died recently and I have a very energetic 7 yr old who needs his mummy on top form.

How old are you?

I suspect they are testing for low thyroid function.
No point having an FSH /LH / oestrogen levels test unless done on right days.

I'm sorry BTW to hear about your loss Flowers

I have never heard of meno having to be proven until you can have HRT. If you have symptoms then that is proof enough. If the HRT works then that is proof it was needed.

Ask for it- unless you have some serious medical issues that mean it is unsafe your dr ought not to refuse.

I'm 45
No medical issues
If symptoms are enough then I'll ask for it.
I just assumed it had to be confirmed.

The fsh/lh box was ticked on the form.
I know my amh levels were very low. Ivf was ruled out because of it.
