Having terrible night sweats and mood swings.
I read red clover is meant to be very good. Has anyone tried it?

some people may find it helps but the research is mixed.
Is there any reason why you don't want to use HRT which would help?

I would rather try the alternative route before HRT.
I know it may sound foolish to some, but would rather try a natural medicine than synthetic.

Most HRT nowadays is natural- bioidentical oestrogen is made from yams.
It has exactly the same molecular structure as our own.

Red Clover etc is based on phytoestrogens which are derived from plants.

Red clover (In the form of Pro Mensil double strength) worked very nicely for me for a few months.. until my symptoms got so bad they were useless. Now started bio identical HRT.

Have been told by my meno consultant that because of my age (47), it would be more dangerous NOT to take it with respect to bone thinning etc, and that there is only a slightly increased risk of breast cancer above the age of 52.

I also wanted to try the alternative route.. Depends how bad your symptoms are I guess.

I think every woman would want to go down a 'natural' route but sadly these products rarely work- or they do work for some of the time as HH says.

HRT is not some dangerous medicine. Being overweight and having a daily drink has a greater risk re cancer. In fact it could be argued as HH says that not using HRT for some women is going to be more dangerous.
