Peri -period?

Hello...I have been reading though most if the posts on here over last few days, and hoping for some reassurance / advice as I've had 12 days of light period/ spotting which started 10 days be before due (although last year cycle has been anything from 14 -31 days used to be 28) and
today have woken up to a
heavy flow, I can't stop crying either. Confused

Saw GP last week who was fairly dismissive, have had blood tests so awaiting
results. Am 45 and hoping it's the perimenopause, and nothing scary...Hmm

sounds most likely and normal for peri. I had a friend who spotted constantly and was given the equivalent of the mini pill to help.

Can I ask, what constitutes spotting?

I have bled almost continually for almost three months but the bleeding doesn't really warrant the use of a tampon - I use a liner but there's rarely anything actually leaks onto it. I'd say all my blood loss goes down the toilet when I have a wee. And when I look at it, it seems a lot. Confused.

I've had one episode of flooding, which I wonder whether was an actual period.

That all sounds quite familiar. I went on Qlaira HRT which mimics your hormones and that stopped the bleeding and the crying and the rage.

Something to be aware of is that if you have spotting (light flow or whatever) for a long time - you may get quite anaemic, so that can be something to ask your GP to check.

spotting is just that- bleeding but slightly- not a full flow.

If you are losing more blood that is 'trapped' and only comes out when you sit on the loo then that may be more than spotting. Spotting is considered anything from 1 single spot in a day to more but not enough to use a towel or tampon.

Hawleybits - sounds much the same as me, appeared to come out into the toilet, making the water a nice shade of red Shock. Other times was a light pad or liner. Then the most horrific bleeding / clotting for three days. Tonight, it has stopped (fingers crossed)

MyCat - I have just been prescribed Qlira, pleased to hear it works Smile

Well qlaira works well for me, only get a couple of days of rage a month and a manageable period at a predictable time.

Took a couple of tries to find one that suited me though. Good luck.
