Been having night sweats on and off since last summer.
Since February they have been almost constant and I am shattered with not sleeping properly EVER Hmm

All bloods have been normal, GP refused me HRT and also anything else that may help with night sweats.

She has referred me to gynae, which could take 6 months, unless I pay for a private consultation which as a single parent is not really an attractive option.

I'm 38, she said if I was 48 with same symptoms she would prescribe
My mother had early menopause at 36
Do they really expect me to go another 10 years like this Hmm

Menopace.

It's brilliant. I bought mine in Tesco on a three for two!

MozzchopsThirty · 10/05/2014 15:02

Great thanks will look

I didn't get on with menopace at all, no idea why but realised it was giving me white out/shaky nausea spells a short while after taking it

I have however found THIS

To be a huge help & Macca powder is brilliant for hormone balancing & energy too - info here

When you say your bloods were normal, do you mean you are NOT menopausal? Was your FSH normal? Are your periods regular?
Or are you menopausal and really quite young to be going through the change?
Has your GP explained why they are not prescribing for you? I presume you mean HRT?

Sorry, lots of questions, but your OP does not give enough info.

VenusDeWillendorf · 10/05/2014 17:28

Night sweats may be a symptom of diabetes.

Have you had checks for your thyroid as well.

Change gps if you want to, but sometimes it's better just to insist on further tests.

MozzchopsThirty · 10/05/2014 17:59

Been checked for everything under the sun FSH, thyroid, FBC, LFT etc etc

GP wouldn't prescribe anything that was for night sweats (HRT, Clonadine) am already on SSRIs.

Went to buy menopace today but pharmacist said they're just vitamins and won't help with sweats. I'm healthy, exercise regularly, perfect BMI and eat well.

Looks like I'll be paying £150 to see gynae.
Took diazepam last night just to get some sleep Hmm

I don't have periods as I have a mirena

Look into the magnet I link to above - it stopped the night sweats & flushes for me on day one - the Macca root powder also balances hormones & adjusts itself to what your body needs - proven in studies to work - I find it's great stuff & give it to DD too - my friend who the magnet didn't work for, swears by Maca

PacificDogwood · 10/05/2014 21:22

Ok, so your sweats may not be menopausal and menopause treatments are less likely to work anyway.

You could still consider food supplements such as Black Kohosh or Red Clover.

And I'd go back to be reviewed again if your night sweats are ongoing.

PacificDogwood · 10/05/2014 21:22

FSH is worthwhile repeating as it can fluctuate quite considerably in the perimenopause.

MozzchopsThirty · 10/05/2014 21:32

Ooh I like the magnet, intrigued!!!

FSH has been done 3 times now

MozzchopsThirty · 10/05/2014 21:32

Sweats have been almost constant now for 3 months and on and off for about 9 months Hmm

PacificDogwood · 10/05/2014 21:33

Ah ok, you're real not very likely to be menopausal then and HRT would not help tbh.

VenusDeWillendorf · 11/05/2014 01:56

Mozzchops there are two types of menopace tablets. The mineral and vitamin suppliments, and the botanicals, including phyto oestrogen.

The botanical ones are sold separately, and also with the multi mineral and vitamins.

Boots stock them all.

Good point CorusKate but the OP said she has been to her GP, and all bloods were normal, and her mother had early meno.

I'd pay for a private consultation (indeed, have done).

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 19/05/2014 21:16

Could it be anything to do with the mirena? I'd be tempted to have it removed and see if things improve.

AwkwardSquad · 21/05/2014 10:40

I'd be wary of mixing herbal remedies with your SSRI without proper advice. Could your SSRI be contributing to the night sweats? I'm on them too and I think it may be a side effect.

Michal12 · 21/05/2014 12:27

I would go back to the doctors and ask if the mirena might affect the FSH results. Probably best not to self prescribe until you know what the issue is. I had quite an early meno (44) and was on the contraceptive implant at the time. It took 2 years to sort out so I feel for you if this is the case. I think you need to be pushing at the doctors, I had to go about 5 times before I even got tested.

mkmjimmy · 05/06/2014 14:35

You'd could ask to see another doctor at your surgery. That's what I did - now on HRT and its so much better...

(Still getting night sweats but much less frequently).
