Late Period - do you wear "just in case" protection, or hope for the best?

I am usually a 4 week cycle, occasionally 3 if unlucky, and get occassional very heavy periods, if one is light, next usually heavy.

I asked the doc last year if perhaps peri-menopausal (whilst checking out other stuff) so she checked bloods and all perfectly fine, no sign of the "Change".

Last period was light, and over 6 weeks ago now!. Had all usual symptoms and PMT a few weeks ago, but nothing happened. I was sterilized 14 years ago so not pregnant.

I just keep panicking that I am going to be caught un-awares with terrible flooding. How do you cope? Do you wear a liner all the time?

Wouldn't mind if they just stopped, but I won't be that lucky!

I did for months as I was so unpredictable but when they occasionally arrived, oh boy were they heavy and painful. Thank goodness that is all past now. One advantage of menopause.

You might be worrying for nothing. I had pretty normal periods up to age 52, missed a couple, then had almost a year of normal again, then missed about 4 and had a couple more of very light ones a few weeks apart, plus a couple of really light 1-day 'possibles' when I was 54, about 9 months apart (Saw dr and all ok) None was heavy- very light for about 2 days.

Thank you both, I will just have to wait and see.

When MIL died, she had a handkerchief, a bag of change and a comb in each hand bag.

I keep a pair of knickers, 2 towels, 2 tampons, 1 pantliners and a packet of ibuprofen and a packet of tissues in all my hand bags at all times. I call it my menopause survival kit. (It came in very useful recently after a potentially disasterous knicker-wetting episode Blush)

If I am at all suspicious and have to go out, I pad up appropriately, as sometimes I do not get a warning spotting, but a big splodge.

PS not actually had any disasters so far, apart from the 'incontinence' one.

presumably your MIL was quite a bit older than you when she died?

She was 70, which is not quite older enough IMHO :(

She was a great organiser and would no doubt have been able to advise me further on the contents of my handbag Grin
