Total hysterectomy two weeks ago - early 30s

That's about it really - and I'm cool with it. Kind of amazed at how well the HRT has kicked in - only had one bad headache as any discernible symptom.

I decided to have one as my family is complete (twins), and I have a genetic mutation which means I have (or had) a dramatically increased risk of gyne cancers (as well as bowel - MSH6). So I decided to have the lot out - had the op two weeks ago, walked home from hospital, went straight on hrt patches and it all seems to have worked out fine. Worse thing was the vaginal pack (seriously, was like a couple of National Trust tea-towel cut into strips and shoved in - I couldn't believe it when they were taking it out - I would have laughed if I hadn't have been crying!) Cut my own stitches out this morning (which I don't think is advised). Libido seems to be ticking over as normal and I think I'll start back training again next week.

I just wanted to do this post as in the run up to deciding whether to have it or not, I (obvs) googled and mumsnetted a bit - and there was a great deal of stuff out there where lots of poor women had had an absolute nightmare. So I thought I'd share a (so far) good news early hysterectomy / hrt story for anyone who is trying to make a similar decision about prophylatic hysterectomy for anyone else - I remember looking at this page when I was making my decision.

Stuff that I think helped: being fit in the run up to the op, researching female sexual dysfunction and talking about it with DH (making a plan for how to deal with it if it happens), getting a credit card and going a bit nuts with stuff to make up for not having any ovaries anymore, having a fit consultant.

I hope other people can have as easy a ride as I have been lucky to have had so far.
