Please Please someone tell me I'm coming to the end of it all !

I always had very irregular periods since they started at age 9.

Occasional flushes since I was about 50.

Periods started to be exactly 28 days around the same time.

Then at about 53 flushes got more frequent.

Went 10 months without a period, then 3 in 8 weeks, then nothing for 6 months, then only what I could call a smear for a day.

That was 6 months ago.

For the last 6 weeks, its almost constant, having to get up and shower in the night, cant wear anything but cotton or I just swelter.

Is this the last Hurrah, or do I need to see the Dr?

You only need to see a Dr if you want HRT.

Can't answer your question about how much longer it will last. My hot flushes only began when I was 53-54 after my last period. My mum still had flushes and night sweats in her 70s....

just to cheer you up :)

Oh bugger! Can't have HRT as both Mum and Gean died from breast cancer.

Feel like the fires of hell at night :(

Oh, I do sympathise.
I am 50 and suffer terrible nightsweats.
The moodswings are alarming !
I put iced water in my hot (!) water bottle, which helps a bit. Only the teensiest bit, though...
My periods are about 6 months apart and very, very heavy. Thats the worst, because I daren't leave the house then.
HTH (sorry - it doesn't, really)

Have you had genetic testing or counselling re. the BC?

Maybe you have to go down the complementary route- think about acupuncture, chinese herbal medicine, Ayurvedic medicine, herbs, yoga......there's quite a lot out there and even good old Menopace to try first.

Shosha1 · 21/11/2013 08:29

No chose not to have genetic testing. Have a mammogram every year tho.

I haven't tried anything really yet. I suppose I should see the doctor, but We are Forces and as brilliant as Dr Col. Mike has been with my lupus seeing a Army Col. about the menopause feels a bit awkward

I live in NE Europe, on a similar latitude to Moscow. I was out for a walk earlier this morning with DDog, no hat, no scarf, no gloves, winter coat unzipped and open and I was STILL hot. Thank god it's going down to -11C next week.

My neighbours must think I'm either a lunatic or well hard.

Missbopeep · 21/11/2013 08:55

You wouldn't need to see a dr for the treatments I suggested.Menopace is an OTC product from Boots or online.

Not sure where you are but many European countries are much more clued up on the complementary side of things for meno- suggest you have a google and think about the things I mentioned upthread.
