On HRT, & post ablation bleeding

7 years ago I went onto HRT as I was peri-menopausal. My periods were so heavy I had an ablation a couple of years ago which ended them completely. I was so happy

In the last four months, my periods have returned. I have dropped my HRT to a 1mg from 2mg on the advise of my GP in the hope that my returned periods might be HRT related rather than the lining of my womb growing back.

Anyway, still on HRT I get a few days of light but horrid bleeds of old blood and yuck about a week into the pack, then about a week or so after this has finished I get a couple of days of fresh blood: back to bad pains, body swells, crave chocolate, and song sleep well.

Has anyone any ideas on what might be up as my GP hasn't a clue. I don't want to come off HRT as I am dairy intolerant and as such it helps prevent osteoporosis.

Also, I have a very demanding FT job and I reckon the HRT at keeps me sane. I am a long time single mum so need my sleep and anything that helps me feel remotely well is good mentally: not easy knowing you are that unattractive that you are totally undatable even though I am fine on my own.

I am 47 so hit the menopause really early, and have been a lone parent for over 13 years, and not had a proper relationship for almost 8 just to give you context. Any advise would be great, but I won't be coming off HRT...just the thought of coming off that wonder drug fills me with terror as when the menopause started, life as hell...couldn't sleep, was stupidly tired, and emotionally as all over the place. I don't have any support so am not intending to go through that again.

Couple of options- get a Mirena fitted to stop the bleeding and just take a low dose of oestrogen- ideally patch or gel.

2nd option- discuss Tibolone which is a type of HRT that doesn't cause the lining to grow and can prevent osteoporosis.

But- not eating dairy is not a reason to go on HRT- you can get calcium from other foods, take supplements and do exercise to help your bones. No dr would give you HRT because of dairy intolerance unless you had already had a DEXA scan which showed low bone density AND were unable to take standard drugs for osteoporosis. HRT is not licensed for 1stline treatment for bones though it can help bones if you take it for meno symptoms.

Thanks missbp I really don't want to come off HRT so will explore the Tibolone.

tibolone

It might help to have a read of this.
Tibolone is not the 1st choice treatment as HRT and you have to have not had a period for a year anyway. Have you had a period or is the bleeding the withdrawal bleed from your sequential HRT? If the bleeding is happening at odd times and not controlled by the HRT is this something your dr is going to investigate?

You might be much better off with Mirena and separate oestrogen because Tibolone can have side effects including hot flushes!
