Changing HRT tablets to Nuvelle Continuous...

I've jumped ship from the Elleste Duet thread Grin

I've need to the doctors today for a HRT review. After having periods for a year with the Elleste Duet, they suddenly stopped again 2 months ago. I've now been prescribed Nuvelle Continuous.

Anyone got any experience of these tablets?

I'm a little apprehensive in case they take some getting used to as I was feeling so well on the other tablets.

No experience but just general info if it helps.

No bleed preps are usually only for women who are aged 54+, or who have had no periods ( actual real ones not withdrawal bleeds from HRT.)

Does this apply to you?

If you stopped having a bleed with a sequential HRT the question is why?

It could be that there wasn't enough estrogen ( if you were on a 1mg type) to stimulate the lining, and therefore allow a bleed, or it could be too low level of progestogen to bring about a bleed.

What reason did the dr give for this - and for swapping you to a no bleed prep?

What age are you now and had your periods stopped before you took the Elleste?

Before taking Elleste, my periods had stopped for 8 months. I've been taking it for 14 months. I'm now 45.

The doctor wasn't concerned that my periods had stopped again. I suggested a no bleed tablet as I didn't see the point of continuing with a bleed type tablet if I wasn't bleeding. The doctor then went to discuss it with another doctor and they agreed to change my tablets.

Hmmm. Not too sure what to make of that but as you had a prem meno then maybe the guidelines are slightly different?

I think the crux of this will be as you asked, how you feel. With no bleed HRT you are taking 2 hormones every day and some women don't get on well with the progestogen part- giving them PMT symptoms.

It's so individual you will have to see how you find them! You can always change back if you don't like them- and as you weren't bleeding anyway it won't be any different!
