Livial. Great. I'm calm, bleed free and hormonal crazy is absent but hormone benefit is there.

Kyedecmy · 25/05/2013 06:51

Livial is actually Tibolone. it's not your 'regular' HRT- it's a SER, ( selective estrogen receptor) and used only when conventional HRT is not suitable. A close friend of mine takes it- she can't have ordinary HRT- she did try- but it made her fibroid grow.

I'm 43 and have just started hrt. My gp advised me when you go through it before 50 you need hrt as there are much more risks involved as it's not a natural process at this age. We should still be producing the right hormones for our body to function healthily and therefore our bodies definitely need them. After 50 hormones would naturally be reducing so hrt not necessarily required.

At least that's how she sold it to me but tbh I'm glad I did as I already notice a difference in energy and hot flushes have stopped Grin

patchworkchick · 09/06/2013 21:13

I was advised to take it as I have gone through an early menopause, like binger I was told about the benifits until early 50's. It stopped the hot flushes/sweats, depression and exhaustion - I have found it to be very helpful.

Minimammoth · 09/06/2013 21:18

Was on HRT for 5 yrs after severe menopause symptoms, tried everything else but gave in eventually. It transformed my life. I had great hair, slept well, memory and brain function returned, no hot flushes. Am now off it. Can't remember name but it was a patch , I did have periods though and put weight on.

purplewithred · 09/06/2013 21:32

Patches for me, worked a treat - my main symptom was recurrent cystitis, hrt toughened up my tissue Hmm and got rid of my flushes. I did consider the risks and decided they were pretty marginal vs the rewards.

Kyedecmy - I don't know anything about prostap and it looks quite complex re what it does to the hormone balance and oestrogen, so I don't really understand what it is doing and why you need HRT.

However my choice is to use completely bio-identical HRT ie estradiol (Kliovance contains estradiol valerate which is converted to estradiol in the body), and progesterone. Kliovance contains norethisterone continuously and this progestogen disagrees with some women (gave me headaches, gives some women permanent pmt/anxiety).

Just wondering why you need to have progestogen all the time or whether you could still have a cycle with bleeding? If so you could try different products and you would know whether the progestogen agreed with you or not as they are only taken then for part of the month You don't want HRT to give you additional side effects.

I swear by HRT having used it ( still do) for 6 years and I am now 60.

Hi, I have been on prostrap injections and Tibolone add back for 2.5 months now for pmdd with a view to having a full hyst. No bleeding but still tracking symptoms and they are still present :-( but when I first started had bad headaches but nothing to bad. Have you started yours yet? :-)

missbopeep · 27/06/2013 08:15

Just being a bit picky here but is the use of Prostrap more of a general health issue- and nothing to do with meno? Not saying anyone shouldn't post here ! But just wondering why some people think it's meno when it appears to be a PMD issue- which is why not many replies are coming up here?

Dreamdorset · 27/06/2013 18:38

Some people being myself and Kyde.....hmmm well its not general health its hormone related just like menopuase is!

hedwig2001 · 27/06/2013 19:31

I went through premature menopause at 42. Tried to manage without help but really felt much better on HRT. Femseven conti patches work really well for me.

missbopeep · 28/06/2013 08:52

You really cannot NOT take HRT with a prem meno-you leave yourself at a hugely higher risk of osteoporosis and heart disease. HRT before the age of 51 doesn't 'count' as you are simply replacing what ought to be there.

missbopeep · 28/06/2013 08:54

Dream
It's up to you but I was trying to be helpful. I thought you'd get more response on a general health forum where there are lots of posts about hormonal issues that have nothing to do with meno.
