Hi Ladies,

Pulling my hair out here, searched all 4 corners of the internet and came across you here.

OK, I'm 42 I hadn't had a period for nearly 2 yrs ( YAYYYYY ) had my bloods done as had the sleepless nights, hot sweats, putting the coffee in the fridge and the milk by the kettle etc and ..in my 12 yr old sons words.. grumpy lol it was confirmed I was well and truly out the other side...The Dr put me on Elleste Duet 1mg, I am nearly at the end of my 1st packet, I still have a few hot flashes (not as bad as I did) and still not sleeping to good...well untill the alarm goes off then I dont want to wake up!! but I came on this morning??!! is this normal after being period free for that amount of time?? I was hoping I was well rid of them

I also felt better on the White tablets and a bit Grrrrrrr on the green ones

Can someone please give me any info on your experiences before I go running back to the Dr;s and her thinking I am panicking over nothing
Thank you x

Perhaps get onto Menopuase matters website and do some research? It might help you to settle your mind.

Hi, feel a bit strange posting this as I am new to this forum but feeling so anxious and really don't know where to turn. I have been on Elleste Duet 1mg for 2 weeks now and I'm feeling worse than ever. I'm 43 and have been suffering with perimenopause symptoms for just over a year mostly horrendous hot sweats in the day which have stopped me being able to do my job and disgusting night sweats. For the last month I have had neck and shoulder pain and also aching in my ankles... why is it all so random. After being prescribed HRT , I really didn't want to go on it but at end of my tether and DR make sense about protecting my bones as still young I thought I'd give it a go. 2 weeks in the hot flushes have got better and night sweats less but I feel so low and miserable. I'm on day 17 of pack just gone into the green tablets and I really need some hope that this is going to get better. Any word of wisdom I would really appreciate. X

It should get better.
You are now taking the progestogen part of the monthly pack. THis is often associated with PMS. No getting away from it. I still use a sequi HRT in my 60s because I don't want to take a conti regime.

However, there are many different types of HRT. A lot of women swear by Femoston as the progestogen in it is very similar to our own. You may want to swap to that BUT you need to give any type 3 months.

You may also want to swap tp patches or gel (plus a progestogen alongside it) as another option.

Don't give up yet. As you are having an early menopause, if your GP can't sort it for you, ask for a referral to a gynae.

Thank you Polly Perky, I just need to stick with it and give it a chance but every day feels like a struggle at the moment and there's only so much moaning you can do with your friends and family who although supportive don't really understand how awful I feel especially as I'm normally a bubbly personality.
X

Hi can anyone help. Have started taking Elleste Duet Conti. Half way through month

  1. Hot flushes have gone (yaaay) but now am freezing. Also have had 2 periods. One lasted a week. Break for 3 days and then bled for 5. Up til then hadn't had a period for 2 years. Just couldn't cope with not sleeping and flushes. The Dr said I could have spotting but this is proper period. Any body else has any of this xxx

Hi help. I take elleste duet 2mg HRT I usually come on when I take the second tablet in a new pack, that will be week after next, can o leave the week I have left in this packet and start another now so that my period will be this weekend instead of next?? I am going away and I am usually really poorly for the whole period so it would ruin the holiday.

Hi Ladies, I am on Elleste conti (not the 2 colour diff type). I was prescribed these a few weeks ago after trying the patches for 8 months, which rarely stayed on and gave me constant tension headaches. I have to say I do actually feel much better already, the down side is I have had an ongoing period for 8days now. I did not mensturate for 4months on the patches and am wondering if this is normal? I have also read that this is only normally prescribed for women whose periods have ceased? mine were erratic but I was still having them. I have to say that I do think its trial and error and that the doctor I saw kept referring to a medical journal, which didn't feel me with confidence at the time. I really feel for everyone who is going through this. I was extremely tired for well over a year, coupled with not just mood swings but fierce rages, almost like being a teenager again. I could not think straight, communicate, was irritable, moody, negative and felt trapped. Getting help is the first step. Over a period of 2-3 years I have persisted and I am still not sure if what I am taking is helpful or safe in the long run.

@mufassa69 Continuous HRT is for women who have not had a period for 12 months or are age 54+ (when it's unlikely they will have regular or any more periods.) Doesn't sound as if your dr has much of a clue to be honest.
Even in women who are post meno ( 12 months with no period) the information with conti HRT (it might be on the leaflet in your pack) is to expect erratic bleeding for up to 6 months.

This is worth reading Menopause Matters

For someone like you whose periods have not ended, your own hormones will tend to override the HRT especially if your estrogen surges now and then, giving you a bleed.

Thanks for the info Queenofthenights. My Dr does have the relevant information on my personal case so I would hope that she does have a clue. I was not given the original packaging so I did not have an information leaflet included as I was only given half of what I was prescribed with a view to collect the rest as and when I needed them. The override part does make sense so thanks for that. I will at least have this info now when I do go back for a check up so I can challenge her about it. Of course when I get the explanation I will post it.

Noodlenok · 24/07/2018 09:55

Help please.
So I’ve been on Elleste Duet 2 mg for over a year now. Seemed fine in the beginning, took away all my menopausal symptoms. I have noticed now that every month just before my period I have lower tummy ache. It gradually has got worse, so much so that this month I had to see my GP. It felt like I’d been kicked in the stomach, I could barely walk it hurt so much! My GP examined me, which also really hurt. She says it sounds like it could be a cyst. I have to have bloods done and am being sent to a gynaecologist. I’m worried sick!!
Anyone else experiencing anything like this???

scarfell · 05/08/2018 15:30
