I have been on this for a week and a half following a hysterectomy. The last few days Ive had terrible nausea, which I blamed on antibiotics. I didnt take any antibiotics today and have been wretching and nauseous almost constantly, I pulled some of my stitches out during one bout.

I feel exactly how I did with morning sickness, and Im starting to wonder if its the hrt? Has anyone else had this problem?

It is most likely the HRT :)

When I stared using gel, I found myself feeling sick about an hour after using it. I cut the dose in half- very easy with gel- and split it into a morning and evening dose and hey presto- no sickness! Many drs now recommend doing this now anyway.

If you are taking just estrogen, why not try gels or patches? They are both safer re. circulatory disorders and have fewer side effects.

It's odd that in the UK drs dish out pills as the norm ( cost? ) but in France gel is the thing, followed by patches.

Thanks, I feel better today so I'm not taking it. I'm going to try the natural route but will make an appointment with the dr to see about the cream.

Apparently estrogen can cause endometriosis even after a hysterectomy, so I'm not too happy asking it anyway.
Thanks for the reply Smile

Coco don't give up on the HRT just yet it will have hardly got into your system & could be that AND the abs AND the anaesthetic combined.

Finish the course of Abs, give it a few weeks for your body to adjust & then see how you feel. Switching to patches might work better too.

I'll see how I go for a few weeks. I've hurt my insides and I'm scared I'll do some damage before its all healed. I will definitely go to the dr to see about cream, the physio had mentioned its good to help stop a prolapse.
Thanks Smile

Have you had your ovaries removed as well?
When you mentioned the " cream" do you mean the gel I mentioned or do you mean vaginal cream (HRT) for prolapse?

Yes ovaries are gone, I think I mean gel Confused

I'm not sure that oestrogen can cause endometrioisis after a hysterectomy if you didn't have it before, but it can reactivate it if endometrial fragments remain in the body.

This is what is says on the menopause matters website under health conditions, about endometriosis:

Endometriosis
There is a small risk of reactivation of endometriosis with HRT use and any recurrence of symptoms should be reported. If a hysterectomy has been performed for endometriosis, the choice of HRT use thereafter should be influenced by the extent of endometriosis at the time of the operation. Since hysterectomy often causes a premature menopause, it is often advised to take HRT until the average age of the menopause; 51 years. HRT after hysterectomy usually consists of estrogen only. However, in the presence of endometriosis, estrogen may cause stimulation of residual deposits and consideration should be given to using continuous combined (estrogen plus daily progestogen) therapy, or tibolone, though little research has been done on the effect of different types and duration of therapy. Medical treatment of endometriosis often involves ovarian suppression which, along with ovarian removal, may increase the risk of osteoporosis.

I did have endo. Knowing my luck they never got it all and I'd get it again! Thanks for the link.
Feeling much better today, didn't take my HRT, I have a drs appointment in a couple of weeks and I'll discuss my options.
