Does anyone take Climagest?

Am having a premature menopause and started taking this today.

Any experience on it? Am just hoping I will not have so many flushes and hoping my bone density stays the same. Slightly nervous after reading the side effects associated but, I assume, they would be more or less the same with all/most HRT?

Hello Lovelyjock, my Dr did say the bleed is at the end when start taking the combined tablets. I have taken it for 25 days and I have not had a bleed yet. I don't really want one but I am still worried.

Funny how we all react differently to the same tablet!

I am 56 and had my last period 5months ago. I have been to see my doctor 3 times in the last 18 months with terrible night sweats and hot flushes. She is on the fence as far as hrt is concerned and I decided to try natural remedies like sage and tried all sorts and spent a fortune . This week I woke up and decided I couldn't stand these sweats anymore they were making me depressed so I went to see my doctor and she really thought that climagest 1 mg would help. I am so scared after reading the side effects but have just taken my first one. Can anyone give me any advice or comments

Don't worry about the list of side effects - all medications list all the possible risks and side effects ever experienced, and HRT is no different.
Try to approach it with a positive outlook - if you have had terrible sweats and flushes then hopefully these will be eliminated or minimised. There are often minor side effects but the thing about HRT is that you should feel better overall - and that the symptoms that are affecting your life are reduced so that you can cope!
If this particular type does not suit you, there are plenty of others to try.
Good luck!!

I stopped taking cCimagest for 3 days because I had developed a REALLY itchy scalp, thought it might be the Climagest. I have been on it for 1 and 1/2 months- is this a known side effect? and if not can I just resume taking the pills even though I have missed 3 days?

Hiya, my doctor prescribed me climagest 3 months ago, even tho I was back to having a normal period every 28 days after missing a month here and there....but since I have been taking climagest I feel much better in myself, my black cloud has lifted and my bones don't hurt as much as they did??...but I am now having a period which is much heavier every other week ...and this has happened for the last 3 months...please help is this normal,,I went back to my gp who told me that everybody has to go through it so I just have to get on with it and he's surprised his colleague even gave me hrt!!!! I don't know where I am ..I've had two blood tests for the menapause, one said I'm peri and the other said I'm post!!!! Obviously I'm definately not post as I'm still having periods....but is having the period every other week normal ?

sorry to hear you are suffering. Your dr's attitude is appalling. God- do these men hate women or something??? Can you change to another dr in the practice or a different practice?
Breakthrough bleeding is common but at 3 months it ought to be settling down. what is probably going on is your own cycle is breaking through instead of being fully controlled by the HRT.
I'd give it another 3 months.

This product info does say that erratic periods are likely.

Thank you for replying pinkfrocks ,,I know, I thought that when he said it!!! Previously I saw a lady doctor who gave me the hrt, but this time I couldn't get to see her you have to see who your given at our practice, we don't have our own doctor as such unless you want to wait a month for an appointment,,, but yes I will give it another 3 months and see how I go as I do really feel much better from taking them...and just hope it settles down,,,thanks a lot though

I've been taking it for nearly a month, and it has literally changed everything for the better. Hot flushes minimal, dryness much much better, mood 90% happy, more energy...it goes without saying I am really delighted to have the 'old' me back ????????

Gwytherchristine · 10/06/2015 19:08

I have had meno symptoms for 2 years and after it had got considerably worse with the flashes insomnia and very bad depression I was prescribed climegest I am on my second day and feel brilliant just feeling cold all the time is this a side affect that anyone has had . ?????

Bellaciao · 14/06/2015 20:43

Maybe you're feeling cold as a contrast to the hot flushes - although it would be surprising for them to decrease that quickly ie after 2 days!
