Insanely dry, itchy scalp?

I have been perimenopausal for over a year, now, main symptoms being crashing libido, weight gain around middle (previously been the same weight for 25 years more or less) which just won't shift, memory has gone and periods are getting less frequent (currently 9 weeks late and countingGrin) but the biggest problems is I have a horrifically flaky scalp. Is this a menopause symptom? My skin elsewhere is not much drier than usual. I had tried several types of shampoo including TGel, H&S and Oilatum with zero effect even after prolonged use. I have taken to just ignoring it. Any advice would be really appreciated as it is getting me down. Thanks x

Ahhhh...so that is why I keep thinking I have friggin' nits! Wink

My skin is getting dry. My 5yo grandaughter asked me very loudly in the cafe last week why is my skin so "crunchy" Blush

I've also got an itchy scalp and get itchy skin rashes too. Ditto all the other symptoms - you are not alone!!

No advice there, sorry, I think everyone thinks I have nits too!

You could try getting more Omega 3 fats into your diet- oily fish, some nuts, avocadoes etc- for a few weeks and see if that helps.

Or see your GP as it might be eczema of the scalp if it's red or itchy as well.

I went to the docs recently with itchy scalp and he said it was psoriasis and prescribed me a steroid liquid to rub in and leave on over night. It went in 3 days much to my relief.

Try selsun shampoo too if the one for psorasis doesn't do the trick - it's pricey though!
