Apologies for being so ignorant.

I am 46 and have a regular cycle of about 30 days. No changes except maybe a bit ligher and shorter over the last year or so (hard to tell).
Anyway....I have never ever missed a period before (except for the one time I was pregnant) and here I am on day 43, no positive test.

Is this how it happens? Does this mean the beginnning of the end?

How do we know? Grin

This could go on until you are 50+

It varies for everyone. It's rare for periods to stop suddenly but can happen. More often it's stop-start for several months or years. You can easily miss periods for up to a year then have more.

OneHandFlapping · 16/02/2012 14:53

That's how mine started at about 47 or so - miss one, then they're back for a year, miss a couple, back for another year etc. Each time I missed more, (I was annoyed to have a period after 10 months without, I can tell you) until finally they stopped altogether at 52.

I missed a couple last July...buggers came back and been regular ever since. Horrible as well- very heavy with big clots

Pudden · 16/02/2012 14:56

I'm 48

DaveGrohlsgirl · 16/02/2012 14:58

I think I have all of your missing periods Grin......been having 2 a month now for the past 4 months.
Thought it might be the beginning of the end IYKWIM so went to Doctors for blood test...apparently am just anaemic Hmm

torchpaper · 16/02/2012 16:45

Its so weird, the first missed one, isnt it? This is the first and only time ever since being pregnant so it is a bit Hmm

Depends. Did you start crying irrationally when you realised you were late? And then did the room get really, really hot? And are you thinking that maybe your jeans shrank in the last wash and that's why they're a bit tight and it can't be because you've inexplicably put on weight as you're still eating the same?

Any yes answers to the above means yes, this is it.
