I had a novasure procedure for endometrial ablation in feb 2009 and since then hardly had even spotting. Which to everyone is great outcome but now I'm starting to feel like something huge is going wrong with my body. It's just come to a head now and I'm destroying my marriage and scaring my children by my bad moods etc... Let me explain exactly what symptoms I have and see if maybe anyone else could relate to this and maybe advise as to what the hell is going on with me. I am extremely itchy on my neck, shoulders and arms and this comes and goes every few weeks, I have no sex drive or drive full stop for anything at all, I'm tired all the time even though I push myself to go to gym 3 times a week and eat really healthy, don't drink alot at all and don't smoke, I'm not sleeping well waking all the time for no reason or for a wee or I'm sweating, my backache is killing me and constant, belly cramps bad as well but come and go every few weeks, I feel so emotional, I feel like I want to kill everything, cramps in my legs and past 8 days my breasts are so sore that even walking up the stairs with a little bit of bounce hurts me alot. I am planning on going to see the doc tomorrow but, wondered if anyone has any simillar experience etc please I'm sooo desperate. My husband was almost in tears last night and explained to me this morning that I need to get some help because he doesn't know what more to do to make it better for me. The past week he has slept on the sofa to try help me get some sleep but that hasn't helped and in the mean time things are falling apart. Please help Sad

I have been reading these posts with interest. I have had 2 endometrial ablations. 6 years ago and 4 years ago. I am 53. I have suffered continuously for over 3 years with awful hot flushes. Tried every herbal thing going, my emotional state is dreadful. I cry for nothing. I haven't had a decent nights sleep in years. The last few months I have endured really painful headaches and nausea which have sent me to my bed. I sweat profusely most days.after spending all day last Sunday in bed I decided to visit the doc today. He has prescribed me sleeping tablets and anti depressants. He also said if these don't help me after a month he will prescribe HRT.My normal GP said I couldn't take this due to my mum having breast cancer at 54.It is awful that so many women are feeling so wretched for so long.I am literally fed up with my life!

I was 31 (I'm 37 now) when I had my ablation done. Like many of you all, my mentrusals have stopped, which is lovely. However I have the moodiness, crying, hot flashes, vaginal dryness, etc. My husband, thank God, is very patient with me. Itsnkind of hard to determine if my symptoms could be early menopause or depression and anxiety, which I suffer from. I thought I was the only one going through this. Its nice to know I'm not.

I'm so glad I came across this thread! I am in the process of being referred to a gynae with a view to having endo ablation. I shall be very cautious about going ahead with it now.

Just wanted to follow this post as I have been having the same issues.

Jbaill · 11/09/2016 17:22

I'm sorry some of you are going through this. I had an ablation done a few days ago and came across this thread ( I know it started a few years ago). Any updates from some of you who were having troubles?

To those of you who are experiencing early menopause, have you checked with your mom's about what age they were when they went through menopause? And to those that have gotten ablations done in their mid forties or later, could it not be that it is just natural menopause you are starting to experience?

I read that doing FSH levels while in perimenopause (which can start in your 30's, but more commonly in 40's) isn't useful because it fluctuates too much as your hormones adjust. Just thought I would share what I found incase it might be helpful for some.

Jbaill · 11/09/2016 17:26

Oh and I wanted to add (not sure how to edit Smile). To those that are saying they experienced the same as the OP, do you mean that you had an ablation and this happened? Or that you are just having the same symptoms?

Brandy44 - did you ever have periods after your ablation?

Jbaill · 11/09/2016 17:28

Do you symptoms cycle? If so you could be in perimenopause. Check out this site below, it's a good read.

I had the ablation surgery last june. I have everything going on you all have. My husband has noticed more and more lately and in truth it just hit me yesterday. Hot flashes, cold sweats, mood swings, and not sleeping well. I am going to the Drs and will post a result

Feelingcrazy · 16/03/2017 17:42

Does an endometrial ablation causes early menopause?

I had a endometrial ablation for heavy bleeding and had never missed a period. Within 3 months, I began having signs of early menopause. My doctor said that the procedure didn't cause early menopause. However, I found women at at church that told me the truth. They said that in the medical community... doctors are all aware that the procedure causes early menopause. The younger you are, the longer it takes to notice symptoms but your reproductive system knows you have been damaged and begins to shut down early.

So here is your answer: Yes, an endometrial ablation causes early menopause.

My opinion: Do not have this procedure done unless you want to go into menopause early. Do not let the doctors take your womanhood early and then put you on hormones that can give you cancer to stop the hot flashes, mood swings, lack of sleep, vaginal dryness, and other negative changes to your skin and bones. Early menopause can end your marriage or your relationship. The word needs to get out that this procedure causes early menopause. You wanted to know the truth from another women and now you know that an endometrial ablation causes early menopause. Beware that the medical information online leave out this detail...

I'm fixin to have this procedure done in the next couple of weeks. My Dr. told me that the only reason she is recommending it is because I'm starting premenopause. She also prescribed me an anti depressant so when the procedure is done I won't have to suffer through depression and the wicked mood swings I'm already starting to show. I'm not experiencing a lot of the symptoms some of you are, but I've had hot flashes and night sweats for a few years now along with lack of sleep. She did tell me it would be instant menopause so things can get a little more out of control then having to go through regular menopause. I'm sorry that a lot of you are suffering and I pray that things have started to look up for you. 😢

I am so glad I discovered this thread, I feel like I have Been losing my mind, I too had an ablation / novasure only in Jan 2018 and I am experiencing all the symptoms dedcribed in this threads, I been to the doctors this week and once I mentioned novasure, she suggested HRT, Elleste Duet Conti, which I've been taking but too early To comment on, although I am extremely tearful and eamotional maybe due to the hormones fluctuating with the HRT, I'm putting all my faith in this as my life, marriage, career are all in tattters at the minute and if this fails, I don't know where this will lead, I cannot bear the thought of my kids, husband hating me, I'm sure the husbands pretty close though which I'd understand even I hate me right now, one minute I'm feeling sorry for myself and angry at the world, next I'm justifying why I feel like a leper cause I wouldn't wanna hang out with me right now but I'm petrified of losing everything, has anyone tried any other forms of HRT.

Hi
Just reading this thread which is very interesting! I had an ablation 3 years ago and at the same time I was suffering with horrific back pain, had am MRI scan which resulted in prolapse discs! My personality changed drastically suffering all the same symptoms as most of you tiredness, disturbed sleep night sweats, back ache pains in legs & severe belly cramps like awful period pains which I no longer have! It’s gone through my Mind that I am menopausal at 44 as I feel like I’m just getting on with my daily activities instead of getting sorted! Has anyone had any answers as it seems an awful lot of us are feeling this way!?? X

Antkbow · 24/01/2019 23:41

I had an ablation just a little over two years ago due to extremely heavy periods that would not end and carried for over three months! I developed severe anemia and ended up needing emergency blood transfusions.
Had the ablation and the bleeding stopped to a slight spotting. But I got other symptoms that I had never suffered with before, agonising period pain replaced the spotting some months, then other months I’d get both. A year later I started getting gastrointestinal issues instead of a period! Around 6 months ago I started spotting for longer each month until three weeks ago when the spotting started a bit heavier and still hasn’t stopped. Went to the doctors yesterday, she has said the bleeding is probably the menopause starting, the pain and gastric issues are normal after an ablation. She also said that menopause usually starts two to five years after an ablation.
I have been having the very occasional night sweat too. So I’m back on the Noresthisterone and referred back to Gynea!! Oh and the period pain I’m having right now is awful too, stabbing heavy dragging pain.

Ziggy2013 · 25/01/2019 05:47

Us poor women! Il give it that tho! Very strong women! I’m going back to docs to get to the bottom of it & hopefully get some answers! It’s the tiredness & lack of motivation that’s got me! I used to run a lot! But I literally drag myself around as if in auto pilot! There awful isn’t it!😱 I would love to be active & happy again.. that’s it!

Antkbow · 25/01/2019 21:50

I hope everything goes okay for you!! I never thought I’d be premenopausal at 46 either 😩. It’s absolutely no fun, I could feel my life just draining away before I had the ablation and since I had it it’s just been an endless battle between pain and food poisoning symptoms every month.

I just want it all over with, they did say a total hysterectomy would be my next option so let’s wait and see xx
