A few --million-- questions about early menopause, PCOS and/or hysterectomy?

I have (self diagnosed) PCOS - I am pretty certain I have.

My hormones are all over the place and always have been.

I am utterly fed up with constant pain. 5 days hurting during period, 5 days hurting mid-cycle, related irritable bowels, fatness and excess hair.

So if I went to the docs and asked for a hysterectomy what will they say?

If I had everything whipped out what would happen next?

Would it make a massive difference to the normal ebb and flow of rhythms? This is what I hated most about the Pill - the complete flatness.

I also would not want to take any HRT either.

and some very shallow questions...

Would my skin go all thin and saggy?

Would I put on or lose weight?

What other post hysterectomy or menopause effects would there be?

Hello cervix
I have pcos so I sympathise with you as I suffer from all those symptoms.
I asked my gp for a hysterectomy and was told no Sad
I had a complex cyst on my left ovary 7 years ago, had to have the cyst removed....asked then if they'd take the ovary...no. Angry
Fast forward to now and after years of pain, suffering and yet another complex cyst on the same side, only this week have they took the left ovary and that was reluctantly. I begged for them to take the lot but was told no Sad

I have heard that it makes no difference if they remove both Icarus because the pcos will always be there. Instead I take metformin and that seems to help with the weight and lack of periods. I'm going to get some cream that apparently works with the hair. It's just a lifetime condition I'm afraid and something you just have to learn to manage.

Have you been investigated at all for your symptoms, because it could be endometriosis too? I would suggest getting to the cause of the symptoms and then working out the next step.
My personal experience is that I had loads of problems with pain, bleeding, then an ovarian cyst - this was so big it needed removing and a TAH BSO. This revealed endometriosis and adenomyosis. Am now on HRT and have (fingers crossed) no problems - will be on it until at least 50 y/o partly because there is probably some endometriosis left there which they couldn't remove so it keeps it damped down.
Conditions such as endo do have other treatments such as laser and hormones so you may not need to have a hyst. I think it's worth getting more info before going for the hyst option.
