since my late 30s have noticed periods becoming a day or 2 sooner than normal and also last only 2/3 days. This month just before my period was due had brown/pink spotting for 2 days then nothing. a week later started again...brown/pink spotting. this went on for 2 weeks until i started my period as normal...almost 8 weeks later. I beleive this is a late period as my boobs felt tender right up until my period started. I dont know if the 2 weeks of brown/pink was old blood as there was mucous/tissue there too which i normally get during a period (i assume its the uterine lining coming away). The main difference being the day before my period started i noticed something in the water when i went to the loo...looked like a clot but no blood in the water (sorry!). like a lump of mucus the size of a fingernail (sorry again!). The very next day i got bright red..start of my actual period.
I have been told in the past that i am in perimenopause stage of my life, i had my hormones checked a few years ago which came back as normal. I also have a fibroid. I am going to docs tomorrow for some advice.
Does this sound like a symptom of perimenopause/menopause. would be interested to know if anyone has experienced similar. I expected late/missing periods but not the spotting for 2 weeks, has got me worried. thanks

Periods and bleeding do go haywire during the peri-menopause because the hormones are fluctuating. If you go on the website Menopause Matters you will find out lots about it and there are loads of women on the forum who may be able to reassure you about the bleeding. However good idea to go to the docs especaiylly if you have a fibroid. Also a lot can happen hormonally in a few years!!
