is it possible that i could be starting the menopause at this age.

My periods have always been pretty regular maybe the odd day late here and there but nothing major. However I am now 3 weeks late.

I have done so many pregnancy test over the last few weeks and every one of them says not pregnant.

My gp was very unhelpful and says come back in a while if it dosn't happen. when i asked what a while is he said oh months and months and months would be considered normal.

wow, really cos i feel like i'm going insane considering if i'm pregnat or not. (just for the record this would not be a good thing but neither would it be the end of the world. I have already got 3 and would happily stay that way)

Is this the start of the menopause then ? does anyone have a similar experience and it wasnt ?

Don't know, but someone will probably be along with some idea soon, and this will bump it for you. Do you know what age your mother had the menopause, apparently this is a good indicator. If your doc is part of a group practice, is their a female gp who might be a bit more sympathetic of your need to know?

hi thanks for the reply. im not sure if mum has actually finished with the menopause. i know she was still havin hot flushes about 2 or 3 years ago, would that mean she hasnt ??? cant really ask her as we hav'nt spoken in quite a while(long story). just utterley lost as to what could be causing this. i'v never had a problem before and apart from the pregnancies never missed and no one i know has either

Don't know much about this, but are you under some sort of stress that could be messing with your system? Just a thought....sounds like your mum is doing the more conventional age - I understand that it can take as long as ten years from start to finish, but people who've talked to me about it haven't had it ongoing for that long.

no not stressed at all. its completely come out of the blue thats why i'm so puzzled.
