I think these are menopausal symptoms, but wondering if anything will help?

Having probems with painful wrists (tendons?). Also, eyes are quite puffy in the morning, and seem to be having some kind of allergic reaction, but to what, I don't know, and sometimes the skin looks a little cracked, can be itchy, but not actually sore. Have tried anti-hystemines, aloe-vera, etc, to no avail.Neither of these are incredibly serious, but its hard enough to look reasonable in the mornings! Anybody experienced this? Any suggestions appreciated.

Sloggies - really, allergies suddenly appearing a possible cause? Quite interested in this as I'm sitting here googling all kinds of peri-menopause and severe PMS things and then thought about popping on to MN. Have a 15 month old and just before I fell for her (post 40) was considering going to GP as hormones all over the place. I started periods at 9 and have always expected to start the menopause early.

Anyhoo.... at around the same time as hormones all over the place about 2 months prior to unexpected conception (!), I had an anaphalysis (sp?) shock to lager!!! Have had in total 3 episoides now in 2 years. And now that baby is 15 months old my hormones are seriously up the swanny again. From mid cycle to one day before period starts I could seriously kill and can honestly say I feel chemicals surging through my veins. Then day before period begins, it's as though the hormones drop dramatically and I could sleep and cry for hours.

Sorry a bit of long winded post, but I'm wondering whether my body is gearing up for the change and found it really intriguing that you mentioned allergies as I've only just started getting life threatening ones.....

Cantthink there seems to be some very knowledgeable women on the Meno board, but while we're waiting for one....think the Dr can do a blood test to test if you are, but maybe they're just very nasty PMT symptoms (the mood swings, but obviously you know whether they are worse recently, which may mean they aren't). I find a good fish oil supplement helps me with the Potential Killing Sprees.

Sloggies - when I mentioned it to GP at a recent appointment (more a btw), I was met with a frown, and "I don't think so". Don't the blood tests indicate once you're right in the thick of it - rather than the peri stage which is before it all gets going and periods start playing up? I'm regular as clockwork at the moment!

Cant That may well be true....Cabbageroses has mentioned a book on another thread that I think I need to buy, may help you too. Love your name btw. I had to resort to the sort of pants I continually wear....

Joint problems- ie stiffnesss etc can be part of menopause for some people. Fish oils or cod liver oil might help.

I have had allergies all my life but can't see any link tomeno.

You can have a blood test for your hormone levels, but if they are all over the place the results are not conculsive. I had a b test aged 51 and was told I was post meno- ha! i then went on to have pretty regular periods for another 3 years.

Carpal tunnel syndrome ? more common in menopausal women. Blepharitis is not a menopausal symptom but mine has got worse and it gives me puffy eyes Sad

sloggies · 25/03/2011 20:35

Thanks stomp, off to google.

Carpal tunnel makes sense to be common in menopausal women as exceptionally common in pregnancy. Bloody hormones.
