Feeling nauseous and dizzy on HRT

PinkElephantsOnParade · 30/12/2010 01:18

Been on HRT for about 4 months now.

At first had no problems but about 4 weeks ago started suffering from constant nausea and dizzyness. Almost impossible to eat, can't walk in a straight line. Was taking Prempak C.

GP changed me over to Femoston 2 weeks ago but symptoms no better.

I am at my wits end as I can't work properly and constantly feel like I have a hangover.

Will I have to stop HRT altogether? Depressed at the thought of going back to the constant hot flushes and general malaise I had before but I can't go on like this.

Anyone had similar experience?

Hi

Yes - exactly how am feeling .. it is awful isn't it ..
Am on my second type of anti sickness meds now which are helping and seem to be able to tolerate them without side effects so far .. it takes me all day to feel half human and only now have I been able to eat a small plain omelette.
The gp's do not know enough about treating the Menopause + HRT - what it causes and side effects of HRT - and HRT side effects - one of which can cause nausia/vommiting .
By stopping the HRT today am hoping the nausea improves ?
Can you try anti sickness medication ?

@Poppy237 There are some simple measures you could try yourself.

1 Don't use all the sachet- you can use half a one.

2 Use Utrogestan at night as directed and try it sequentially ( 12 days per 28 not every day.)

This is fairly easy stuff to try yourself and is what a lot of women d o if they are having side effects.

My periods have almost ended like 2 or 1 a year ? My blood tests showed I needed HRT because of the hormone levels .. and seemed that there is no other choice

Why are you using HRT? You must have been given it for symptoms- or because you are young?
Of course you have a choice but if you are under 40 then it's medical advice to use it.

What age are you? If you have been told you have to take HRT that suggests you had an early menopause. Is that right?

I just wanted to say that I just started Everel 50 and-conti patches for menopause and having dizziness headaches and feeling spaced out...I researched and this is a symptom of menopause in some women caused by hormone changes affecting insulin responses which cause low blood sugar...this also is why we put on weight easily because oestrogen affects insulin and insulin causes weight gain if out of whack. Anyway I didn't have dizziness before HRT but its obviously the change in hormone (oestrogen levels) brought on by the eostrogen patch which is effecting my insulin and blood sugar levels making me feel dizzy sick and headache. Anyway I got some white mulberry supplements with cinnamon off eBay to help me lose weight ages ago, and these balance your blood sugar and insulin levels also your serotonin levels for mood. so Im taking more of these see if it helps. theres lots of natural supplements that help do this but this is the best one Ive found so far, its off eBay and 180 tablets for around £5. these are from poland but they do work the best for helping stop cravings balance mood and stop blood sugar spikes. But I have decided to get some bio identical oestrogen patches the same as the oestrogen that was in the combined pill Qlaira i was taking before...its estradoil valerate known as progynova as a patch. its so much better because this is bio identical, more natural, I had no side effects while on that pill and sorted my hot flashes and anxiety out! the doctor won't let me take that combined pill any more because of blood clot risk. I am also going to ask for a bio identical progesterone called Utrogestan its body identical to my hormones as well so better and probably less side effects. I hope this post helps someone here :)
