I have the mirena fitted, and am now having what seems like a constant period, it lasts weeks, I have tried taking tablets from the doctor, but the moment I stop, it starts again.
is this a symptom of the menopause?

update, been to docs.
he thinks it is highly likely that it is the menopause, so going back for a blood test one tuesday.
also got a tablets to take to stop it.

Are you sure that the coil is in the right position? I had a copper coil and bled constantly- went to FPC who looked and they said it was half out.
I am very confused that you have constant bleeding with the Mirena- it is meant to stop bleeding anyway, so it doesn't make sense. The Mirena has progesterone in it which is what they give you to stop bleeding.

as my doc said, when he was talking about the average age for the menopause.......what is average.
I am hoping it is the menopause, but I have taken all this on board.
if it isn't the menopause he will then look into fibroids(no idea what they are) if that happens I will go to FP and get the coil checked.
this has happened in the past and settled doen once I take the tablets.
