Moving to Salisbury

Hi,

Eeeek, can you help! I'm a 35 year old mum to two gorgeous boys (aged 2 and 13 weeks), and due to my husband taking a new job, we are about to "up sticks" and relocate to Salisbury from Cambridgeshire.

Whilst the move is all very exciting, I/we don't know anyone in the area, and I have slight concerns that things might get a bit tense/boring/difficult with only the kids to talk to during the day (there is surely a limit as to how much toddler jibber jabber a mum can take)!

So, without sounding too desperate (joke), I'm seeking other Salisbury mum's of similar age with children of a similar age, to meet up and help me get to know the area once we get there!

Can you help?

you need a playgroup maybe?
do you know where you are living?

We are not too sure where exactly we'll be. My husband will be commuting from Salisbury to Woking every weekday so we want to be near the station and the centre if possible.
I've had a look on the internet and there seems to be quite a few playgroups and kiddie activities in and around the area, which will be great once we get there.
I posted this thread, as I met my closest friend through a mum's forum like Mumsnet, and wondered if I could meet people like it again!?

Hi Yendell1. I live in Salisbury (in city centre), and have much much older kids, 9yrs, 19 and 21 yrs; but i know Salisbury very well and was at school here. So if you need any advise about whats where etc you only have to ask. Its a really nice Cathedral city...good luck with the move and hope you will like living here.
My youngest child is at Salisbury Cathedral school which have a nursey department from aged 3 yrs. So is you are thinking next year of a fee paying ...its a very very happy school and set in the most beautiful grounds with excellent pastoral care of the children.
Salisbury library have a very good toddler area and have story times and craft activities every week.
Happy to meet for coffee to chat and help get you orientated around the town. !!

Hi Yendell1 - did you move in the end? I am moving to Salisbury too in about 2 weeks along with my husband and our 18 month old boy. I have left my job in London and will be looking after our boy full time - at least for a while. My husband will commute to London. I don't know anyone in the area either and I would love to get some tips on what's on in the area for children + just places to meet people. What is your impression of the place so far? I am reading mixed reviews here and it is worrying me a little...

Hi, I've lived in Salisbury for about 18 months. I'm 32 with 2 DD's (16 weeks and 2.6). I haven't had chance to make any mum-friends since moving here so would like to meet up. And it's always good to have company when trying out new baby groups/activities.
