lol trefusis. We've done this too and they've gone down so well in our local pub (where my sister works), that they now sell them!!
You can also buy Nambarrie tea online - that's what I miss the most as well as a decent wheaten bread and Veda!

MrsBoo · 21/06/2005 13:35

Hello from Co Down

stleger · 21/06/2005 16:01

You'd need to be careful you get Tayto from the right side of the border, as they are 2 different companies!

tarantula · 21/06/2005 16:04

wow Tayto on the internet Brilliant! I didnt know they were two different companies SL. Are they really different tastes? cor learn something new and useful everyday.

tarantula · 21/06/2005 16:14

well just found a link to the company in Dublin here it is. the link trefusis gave is for the NI company. Cor how to confuse people eh

stleger · 21/06/2005 16:30

Dull story - my neighbour retired 10 days ago after 37 years with Tayto! They taste much the same though I think I should have a cheese and onion tasting soon. I wonder if you can get NI taytoes over the net in the Republic? Or would they be stopped at customs.

Hi! Quite new to Mumsnet and am obviously from Dublin originally living in northwales now. Had no idea you could order tayto on the internet - so cool. Does anyone living in UK now miss Superquinn sausages as much as I do? Am very naughty, have turned into an expert sausage smuggler when we go back by ferry! Irish sausages taste so much better though dont they?!

SherlockLGJ · 30/09/2005 08:20

On the ferry ??

I just put them in my suitcase and hope for the best.

In Surrey.

dublindee · 30/09/2005 08:22

Good God! If you got stopped you'd be hung drawn and quartered! Besides if you go by ferry you can bring a cooler box to put in the car and make sure they're not all icky by the time you get back!

SherlockLGJ · 30/09/2005 08:24

They have a cell waiting for me in the Tower of London, won't mind if I caught I could do with the break.

noddyholder · 30/09/2005 08:25

love irish sausages and cheese. All meat tastes better imo Does anyone remember brown lemonade?

dublindee · 30/09/2005 08:28

Know how you feel. Am hiding out up here on the computer to avoid sorting out the house. Have a nasty allergic reaction to house-work which is not good at the moment! We're getting a re-mortgage and the valuers will be ringing any day now to book an appointment so it really needs to be sparkly clean and shiny... I just can't get motivated though as only finished work for week and am wrecked (do 3 days but they're 10 hour shifts).

dublindee · 30/09/2005 08:30

brown lemonade? only remember red and white! DP thinks it's hilarious when he asks for lemonade in his drink in Dublin and he gets an option of red or white - only white over here - think the brown would blow his mind totally!

noddyholder · 30/09/2005 08:32

maybe red and white are the same?Brown looked like cold tea this was in the north

dublindee · 30/09/2005 08:38

nope definitely red lemonade and white lemonade by TK mind you not the other cheapy stuff, never seen the brown one - got me curious now. Do they still do it up north? go up quite regularly - LOVE Belfast (Red Panda is best chinese in the world, just over the road from Europa Hotel!)

noddyholder · 30/09/2005 08:40

I think they do.I haven't been over for a few years but plan to next year so will stock up!Tayto are the best crisps and I love dulce the one you get here is not the same

dublindee · 30/09/2005 08:46

Someone told me -unless im hallucinating- that you can get red lemonade over here now in O'Briens Sandwich Bars. I'm just on the North Wales/Chester border so when I go into Chester this weekend I might have a nose and see. It's funny the things you miss about home. I've been here for a year (moved when I was 5 months pregnant) and although I've settled in and love it here, I still think of Dublin as "home" if you know what I mean.... Just saw you're from Portstewart think I've been through it once coming down from Strangford Lough or am I totally wrong with my geography?

laudaud · 09/12/2005 12:17

A bit late joining this thread but noticed some things close to my heart ... fooood!

Red/brown lemonade can be bought in Safeway/Morrisons in Acton - or at least it used to be. Most supermarkets will cater for their local demographic profile so lots of Irish goods available there.
