Hello lemonice,
I'm from Alicante area. Gosh, I hope I don't forget my languages, but I'm sure I'll get them mixed up as soon as I start talking to my children in spanish and to my husband in english.

So, does your friend live in Leam too?

I'm sorry to hear about Lunarsea, I had no idea.

It's been decided and I'm getting an au pair from Alicante to help with the kids, so if you or your friend would like to practise, there'll be two of us to talk to.

Firecracker, I've got longer than you to go and I already feel like a whale. So, in a way the good thing about the date being round the corner is that you get to go back to your normal self.

Hello Pucha

My friend used to live in Leam but she lives in Stratford now.. her parents etc live in Alicante still.

My daughter is at uni doing Spanish and Politics and has a year abroad at Madrid University this year, it was with her that I was looking at the Spanish thread because she was saying she has forgotten more Spanish since being at uni than she knew before.

I did a three week intensive Spanish course at Warwick uni about ten years ago so can read a bit but not much!!

Sorry rambling on here ..must do some work

Dgs would love some little friends his age so I am thinking again of meeting mns but rather reserved (and older than everyone LOL)

Pucha · 08/06/2005 22:42

Hello Lemonice,
It's not easy to keep up a language when you don't live in the country...even I forget my spanish at times and I haven't been here that long.

So, have you been to Spain?

Sorry, I didn't quite understand the last sentence with the abreviations. Who wants to meet friends his age??

I'm new to this, so sometimes I really have no idea what people are talking about.

lemonice · 08/06/2005 22:48

This is funny I have also replied on your Spanish thread (in English) and I have my own daughter who speaks spanish who could meet your au pair if they are roughly the same age 21 years but give or take some years but my grandson (dgs in mumsnet speak) is nearly 14 nonths but doesn't really have any little friends yet but gets very excited when he has the opportuni ty to meet other little children.

Pucha · 11/06/2005 21:13

Hello Lemonice,
Well, that'd be great. The au pair is 23, her level of english is intermediate and obviously, living with me, her english won't get much better overnight. So, it'd be great if they could do some kind of conversation exchange, so both get to practise. The au pair will be taking my daughter (how do you say that in mum's net jargon?) out, so they could both meet up so the babies play and they talk.

She'll be here the week after next to stay for a week. We could all meet up, if you wish. I'm sure she'll be happier knowing there's someone else she can hang out with.

She won't be here to stay till sept, though.

Pucha - can you send me a CAT message or email me on gill AT (leave-this-bit-out) gmx DOT co DOT uk if you'd still like a lift to the next local meetup - this Thursday. We've moved it to Solihull now, and I'll be coming through Warwick anyway, so no problem if you want a lift.
