Anyone else live here/near here? I have an almost 2 year old ds, and Im 7 months pregnant with number 2.

Be nice to get to know others in the area, and then perhaps meet ups etc when weather is a bit better!

I have to go to bed now and dream of local things, night night

TooTicky · 16/01/2008 23:03

Oh yes, the Barge. I can almost see it from here.

Carageto · 22/01/2008 11:23

HI I live in Bath would love to meet up I moved here in May and have a 10month old DS. Stareted working full time this month finding it hard but least childcare is shared by my mum and DH though missing my boy terribly and hard not having friends near by to chat with or even have the odd glass of wine.

So come on everyone lets try to arrange a meet up.

dillinger · 23/01/2008 14:31

I forgot I even posted here!! Aargh silly me!

Nice to have some replies though cos I thought I was on my lonesome

Would be fab to all meet up when the weather is a bit more stable perhaps? Or if you all wouldnt mind meeting a bit closer to me as Im getting more and more uncomfortable an I keep needing to pee. Or sit down.

Hello dillinger, I live westbury/Trowbridge area.

Will keep checking for any meet ups.

kerala · 23/01/2008 14:38

Hi!

Not in Bath but moving there in July and not looking forward to leaving behind my mum friends here . Glad to see there are mums that want to meet up in Bath as I wont know anyone when I get there. So will be getting in contact nearer the time to try and hook up.

Whereabouts in Bath do you all live? Anywhere you would particularly recommend or any tips? We need to live near the station as DH will be commuting to Bristol - just about to start househunting (eek).

SheikYerbouti · 23/01/2008 14:47

Kerala, I live in WQeston (I think we have cahtted beforem, I used to be Intergalacticwalrus)

Weston is good for access for M'way/Bristol/Bath city centre.

Near the train station is Widcombe, which is also nice. In fact most of Bath is OK, just avaoid Foxhill/Snow Hill/Whiteway if you can ()Mind you, Whiteway has improved a bit)

Maybe we shopuld arrange a picnic in Vicky Park.

And whoever suggested a glass of wine, I am up for that too

kerala · 23/01/2008 14:50

Thanks for that SY. Live in a mixed neighbourhood here in London so must say quite keen to live in a "niceish" area this time around if you know what I mean...

mufti · 23/01/2008 15:01

hi , i too am on the 49 bus route, devizes, and "have" to visit trowbridge as dh works there , and we have lunch with him once week , not many nice plces to eat though

dillinger · 23/01/2008 17:32

Im at Foxhill, I seriously wouldnt worry! I was concerned about moving here but its fine. Had to put up with offhand comments from a 'friend' before moving here but hey needs must!

Going to go and cry now

dillinger · 23/01/2008 17:47

Oh Dillinger, I wasn't being a snob

I really don;t know FH all that well, it just has a bad repuatation around Bath. There used to be a lot of troiuble a few years back with gangs etc, but I know the local community/police etc were trying hard to stamp it out, and I know bits of Foxhill have always been OK - Bath';s like that isnp;t it? All v mixed up.

I liove in a road in Weston that had a "bad" family living here, and it was hell. hey have thankfully moved away. Besides, I'm not a snob, I live in a shitty 2 up 2 down ex-council house. You could all come here, but any more than 3 people in the sitting room and it's cramped.

I'd happily go to Foxhill

I'm sorry if I offended you. That wasn';t my intention

dillinger · 24/01/2008 12:56

Thats ok you dont have to apologise I was being far too over sensitive!

I lived along the Paragon for 5 years, when we had my son we went on the waiting list and it took a year to be offered anywhere. I admit I know the area has a stigma attached to it and I couldnt make up my mind for weeks because of that. The 'friend' of mine really put a dampner on things as I was looking forward to getting out of the flat (the woman upstairs was so loud I wasnt sleeping, was anxious all the time etc) but this friends boyfriend (my dp's mate) lives in the part of foxhill that I wouldnt have wanted to move to so I didnt understand why she had to say that. Needless to say I dont tell her much now lol

Anyway thats why I just took it a little too close to heart, was silly of me and if I couldve deleted my post I wouldve! I know it wasnt a great area a few years back but I think if people hadnt heard about that they wouldnt notice anything, iyswim. There is a part that I wouldnt want to live in, I think on the whole though its fine, and good for baby groups etc. I know what you mean about the houses not being huge though lol

Anyway, sorry for being silly! I need to go and bake a cake now (heaven knows what it'll turn out like) as ds is 2 tomorrow!

Hows everyone?

OP posts:
mufti · 06/02/2008 08:41

still here, dillinger, are you?
i'm not in bath as i said, but happy to chat

dillinger · 06/02/2008 11:17

Yep still here lol almost 6 weeks to go now so Im feeling big and tired! I'll be glad when I can walk up the stairs without being out of breath, and when I stop 'grunting' everytime I haul myself off the settee

So Im not sure I'll be up for a meet up til april time at least but tis my birthday in may so maybe a meal out somewhere would be an idea. With wine yayyy

mufti · 06/02/2008 11:56

ah i remember that stuck on the sofa feeling, and the rolling out of bad
did you move there from somewhere else?

mufti · 06/02/2008 12:00

out of bed even

onebatmother · 06/02/2008 12:04

Haha.
I am a little .. grubby today. Saw this on active convo's and really thought it was an order.

dillinger · 06/02/2008 13:00

Trying to put shoes on is a nightmare too lol

I lived in the centre of Bath for 5 years, moved to outskirts almost a year ago but Im from Cornwall originally (my family are still down there.)

OP posts:
mufti · 06/02/2008 13:16

lived in slip ons.
dh used to cut, and paint , my toenails near the end.

mufti · 06/02/2008 13:17

bet you miss your mum

dillinger · 06/02/2008 13:27

Dp did mine when I was preg with ds lol

Sometimes I really miss her (and the rest lol) like really badly, other times its a bit easier. Id like to move back at some point ideally but its really not possible at the mo and I doubt we could get a house anyway - dp would have to take quite a pay cut etc I like visiting but its nice to come home again, plus when I do visit Im reminded of why I left in the first place you know? Its bittersweet! Also difficult to know whats the 'best' thing to do. Maybe there isnt a best way!
