Hi,

Just wondering if there are any mums out there in south norfolk/north suffolk (I'm about to move from one to the other) I have an almost 3 year old DS and am at home full time. Would be great to know if there is anyone else out there.....!

I am in Beccles and DS is 11 weeks old. Currently on maternity leave and hoping to go back to work at the James Paget in January, arthritis allowing.

smeeinit · 03/09/2007 10:19

vole, just to say i was born and bought up in barnby,we are the same age (well im 36 in oct) where did you go to school?

vole3 · 03/09/2007 18:07

Bournemouth
My husband moved to Geldeston at the age of 7 (he's now 42), we met at uni and I moved here almost 10 years ago.

I've only ever been to The Swan once. My MIL booked us all in for DH's birthday, forgetting he has a severe fish allergy
Perhaps she was trying to tell him something as he had been a bit of a ratbag as a teenager...

Hi vole,

Nice to hear from you. I am half way between Harleston and Diss and just about to move to Hoxne, don't know if you know it at all. Was a nurse in a previous life b4 becoming SAHM, though worked in Chester and Norwich. So how is life in Beccles?

There is a strange thing called a blue sky and sunshine! Shame that it's spoilt by the builders 3 doors up.
I took a quick trip into town today and found that the library has some rather nice tub chairs which are just the right size / shape for bf, which is rather handy when DS decides he wants feeding NOW

ProfYaffle · 04/09/2007 15:34

Hi, I'm in Diss. Nice to see more Mners in this area, we really are thin on the ground.

Annieandclarabel · 04/09/2007 18:03

Yes, vole, I remember the 'I want feeding now' very well! in fact, DS is still the same now just with a wider range of things he wants 'now'. I don't know Beccles well, will have to have a wander sometime.

Hi ProfYaffle, nice to be in contact, how are you doing?

ProfYaffle · 04/09/2007 18:19

I'm doing Ok thanks. There are a couple of others in this area, Cupcakes is in Diss and Bocco is in Eye. How long have you been in this neck of the woods? I used to live in Warrington but have been here for about 6 years I think.

Annieandclarabel · 04/09/2007 18:31

Hi again ProfYaffle,

we moved here about 3 years ago from Norwich, but prior to that lived in Chester for a few years. Have only just discovered MN tho. I read a book called '[email protected]'and suddenly occured to me that such a site might exist!surprisingly I am computer literate but obv not very quick on the uptake!

ill be in felixstowe as of next week (hopefully!) if anyone ever fancies a trip to the seaside!

ProfYaffle · 04/09/2007 18:39

What's Felixstowe like? We spent the bank holiday in Saxmundham, the B&B owner suggested Felixstowe for a day out but we didn't make it, did I miss anything exciting?

JARM · 05/09/2007 08:57

hardly lol

crap beach, full of arcades and ice cream and stuff, but great to tire the kids out!!!

ProfYaffle · 05/09/2007 20:56

Ah, bit like Yarmouth/Gorleston then? He was trying to convince me the Sunday market was a good idea too.

A&C - I found it a bit of a culture shock moving from Warrington to here I guess Chester to Norwich isn't so different though.

TenderheartBear · 05/09/2007 21:30

and whats wrong with Yarmouth/Gorleston then?

EllieK · 05/09/2007 21:33

ventured to Yarmouth for the first time ever at the weekend (more a Lowestoft girl ) and won't be going back in a hurry

ds1 loves Felixstowe for watching them load the freight onto the ships

ZoMbIeTaLcY · 05/09/2007 21:35

I be in norfolk.......

moved here about 5 year ago

dizzydance · 05/09/2007 21:38

I live in a nice village near Yarmouth. Don't know if I would want to live actually in Yarmouth now though although I did when I was little. There is nowhere to park there anymore though - permits everywhere. I live living by the sea though.

JARM · 05/09/2007 22:03

the sunday market is ok, must admit that!

loading and unloading of containers - ooooh i can barely contain my excitement!!

We are moving to right next to the port so will be a daily occurance for us now!

ProfYaffle · 06/09/2007 08:24

The beach at Gorleston is nice, pil live there and we go pretty often. Felt like a proper seagull in one of the cafes on the front, dh talking excitedly about how cheap it was while I gagged quietly on toast made of cheap white bread and marg (cheap white bread one of the few food things I'm truely poncy about)

JARM · 06/09/2007 08:25

ooooooh cheap white bread is the son of satan!

DOnt get me wrong, i like white bread, but it has to be top end of the market!!!!

throckenholt · 06/09/2007 08:31

waving - I am in south Norfolk too. Hoxne and the general area seem like nice villages - but have always wondered where you would work if you lived there.

Annieandclarabel · 06/09/2007 20:36

Hi Throckenholt, whereabouts are you?

Love beach at Gorleston, great beach and handy fenced in prom bit which is good for containing escapee toddlers. Cheap white bread nasty, only exception is when accompanying chips and mushy peas on Yarmouth front!

Profyaffle, I found Chester had lots of v rich (Cheshire set) and lots of not so rich, who would never socialise together, seems to be more of a comfortable mix round here?

TenderheartBear · 06/09/2007 21:14

EllieK are you from Lowestoft? im near there

elliek · 07/09/2007 00:19

I'm not, I'm in West Suffolk, but my dad's mum lives in one of the blocks of flats up by Claremont so we visit as often as we can (or as often as she can cope with my sons!)

ProfYaffle · 07/09/2007 11:23

Oh, I didn't think of that aspect of Chester. I was thinking more smallish, olde worlde type place which is similar to Norwich rather than my experience of moving from nasty urban sprawl to small rural market town. When I first moved here it was a bit of a shock but now I have children I love it.
