I am at last, after four long years, the proud owner of the UK patent for the first double buggy that can be seperated into two singles, and vice versa. With enough support, I can prove to people like Mothercare that us mums want one. Just imagine going to town with the kids, and being able to send dad off with one of the kids, to shop or change a nappy, whilst you still carry on shopping!! It has no fiddly clips, no gaps, but still fits through the doors. You simply buy the first one, and add the second when kiddie no 2 comes along. It's great for mums, would be great for people like mothercare, but no one makes it yet ! - I would really love to know what you mums think ??

that sounds fab - i have a disabled dd and am considering having number 2 as dd can still use a normal buggy we'd have to have a double the only thing i don't like is that when she goes to nursery i'll be walking round with an empty seat.

i think this is a fab idea and hope you get the marketing

oh that would be really great!!! about time someone came up with one!! i hsve 3 children under 4 and a half and that would have made my life a lot easier. Good luck. Let us know how you get on

What a fantastic idea! I really hope you succeed in marketing the idea and getting the shops to sell them!

karen99 · 29/07/2004 11:44

What a great idea buggygirl.. quick, apply for that US patent too!

SofiaAmes · 29/07/2004 13:02

Absolutely wonderul idea. Is it an umbrella buggy? Hopefully it has a step on braking system instead of that awful unworkable system that the Mcclaren buggies have. It will need to have a cup holder to sell it in the usa.

fabarooney · 29/07/2004 14:35

Sounds like a brilliant idea. Add one when you have number two and then sell one when 1st child is old enough to walk or use a buggy board. Would definitely have looked at something like this when we had our second.

Heathcliffscathy · 29/07/2004 14:47

sounds brilliant, clever you!

angelpoppet · 29/07/2004 14:58

I had an idea for a baby moniter that plugs into the cigarette lighter. I know several mums that have left their children in the car because they didn't want to wake them.

Does anyone thing this is an OK idea or totally irresponsible and asking for trouble??? I'll sell the idea to anyone who could use it

bundle · 29/07/2004 15:03

ikwym about the car thing, but i think it's a risk too far - cars get too hot/cold v quickly, they're full of flamable liquid, and people nick them.

angelpoppet · 29/07/2004 15:08

Bundle, thought as much - I'm sure that no company would ever market my idea as it goes against all advice.

But how many have been tempted with leaving children asleep in cars - just for the sake of 5 more mins peace and quiet. My SIL used to leave her kids in the car all the time when they were babies!!!!

Brilliant idea, i was just struggling with my double buggy today thinking that it would indeed be handy to take half off (have got 2 year old who walks mostly but does need buggy for longer journeys). Also great if you can add too it, cos it is dammed expensive, at the moment I have 2 strollers for each of the kids when we are both taking them out, but also a pram with toddler seat for going into town, and then a double buggy for longer walks. Good luck, i think its a great idea! Angelpoppet, you may have difficulty as has been said with temperatures, cars being pinched and things, but if kids have fallen asleep in car we have left them while we have a cuppa (as long as we can see they are ok, not too hot, windows open etc.)

squigglesmum · 23/08/2004 22:05

Love the buggy idea - hope you get somewhere with it! Re the car idea, just wanted to add that a friend of mine actually got cautioned by the police for leaving her kids in the car. They were both asleep, she popped into a shop for two minutes and in that time, someone living on the other side of the road 'phoned the police. They turned up on her doorstep later that day, and she was taken down to the station for cautioning. She was really shaken up, and she's a brilliant mum!
