Amazing that you two have so much in common!
That's def not going to happen to me, I went to school 200 miles from here.
quootiepie - I do OU, it's def a good way of getting an education whilst at home with children. I'm in the third year of a law degree, doing it over 4 years, so I'll finish next October all going well.

Quootiepie · 07/08/2006 11:34

Law? oooooOOOOOooooo. I was going to do accountancy.

I really really wanted to do nursing. I actually started K100 first, which is healthcare realted. But nursing doesn't pay that well, and although I got a place in nursing college, I had to decline it in the end as I couldn't sort out childcare. This was aages ago, long before I settled with dp and had the dts.

Quootiepie · 07/08/2006 11:38

lol. I could never do nursing, im so scared of needles and bodily fluid and all that!

I did a stint as a care assistant, you get used to it. Not sure I could go back to it now though!

Are you on maternity leave or a SAHM now?

Quootiepie · 07/08/2006 11:42

SAHM... college booted me out when mum told them I was pregnant!

Kelly how did find balancing study/ childcare????

Kelly1978 · 07/08/2006 11:44

OMG, how awful! I actually lost the care assistant job when I got pg. I guess you must be a bit younger than me then. I'm 28 now. I haven't worked since I had ds1. I tried to go abck but he didn't settle very well, so I gave up. Plus I was a single mum then, so it wasn't financially really worth it any more. I can't afford to work now, because childcare for four children would be astronomical.

Quootiepie · 07/08/2006 11:46

i know... nurseries around here are about £900-£1000 a month. Im 20 by the way.

this year I've found it really hard. It's OU so it's from home and I don't have to have childcare. But Dp's family were having them one day a week, then they've been away for a few months, so it's been tough since. I have to work evenigns and weekends, and I really don't feel like it after looking after the kids all day! The workload in the third year is significantly higher, plus now the dts are older I can't work while they are around.
I sound totally negative, but the last two years were a lot easier - I managed to get more done during the daytime and the reading load was a lot lighter. I would definately recommend doing it.

Kelly1978 · 07/08/2006 11:49

Yikes quootiepie, I had no idea they were that much! I jut knew from prices in Norfolk (where I lived 3 years ago) it wasn't going to work.

Quootiepie · 07/08/2006 11:52

OU dont do accountancy though... have to do it somewhere else.

Kelly1978 · 07/08/2006 11:56

there are plenty of places that do, might jsut be pricey though. Have you thought abotu going back to college?

Quootiepie · 07/08/2006 11:59

no, couldnt leave DS. Id never go back there though... I think my HV ticked them off!

OP posts:
Kelly1978 · 07/08/2006 12:09

lol. don't blame, I couldn't leave mine when it came down to it. I've only ever left them with family.

Quootiepie · 07/08/2006 12:10

I havent been away from DS yet at all! lol

Kelly1978 · 07/08/2006 12:11

Kelly1978 · 07/08/2006 12:43

you are lucky! My dts have been very hard work, much harder than the older two who were better behaved! When my dts were a few weeks old I escaped for a morning, and it was so nice going shopping alone. With four around it's usually a but chaotic, so I relish a bit of peace and quiet! DP is very good, he often has them for me at the weekends, so I can get off for a manicure or a haircut - some time for myself.

Quootiepie · 07/08/2006 12:45

DH is hardly here... he works alot. Alot of days I barely see him
