Hello ! I'm a New Maldenite too (didn't realise there were so many of us !!) but again, don't tick other boxes. I have one dd who is 14 months. My family DON'T live in Hampshire but my Husband's do (basingstoke area too !!).

I thinnk the Malden centre does baby massage classes for newborns and a lot of the playgroups have baby corners although not sure how young they start.

Hazellnut · 28/03/2006 09:39

Just thought of another thing - make sure you take your baby to be weighed regularly if you can go to the walk in Roselands clinic on a friday mornig - its a bit like a playgroup for new borns. Its not meant to be but you usually have to wait a while and its full of local new mums and you usually get talking !!

Don't know if you belong to a gym or want to but I belong to David Lloyd behind the big tesco and they do postnatal exercise classes where you take your baby along in a car seat and they sit at the back. It used to be a major social activity for me but hte downside is you have to join the gym (which reminds me, I really must go !!).

Hiya

I am new to New Malden and have a 6/7 month old baby boy Sam. I'd love to meet up with other mums in a bid to keep my sanity! I am 32, married and hoping not to go back to work in November!

If you fancy getting over to Worcester Park on Thursday 15th June, we are having a MN meetup in the Kindercafe at 9.30 am if you fancy it. New Malden isnt too far from Worcester Park. :)

Ala · 14/06/2006 08:09

Its not far at all (I am in fact Worcester Park side of the A3 anyway). Unfortunately I cant make tomorrow but would love to come along another time. I hear Kinder Cafe is good though.

Why don't we all meet up in the New Malden library on Tuesdays at 10:30 for the baby story and rhyme time? It's lovely and friendly and free - and then maybe we could have a coffee and a chat after?

After saying that, we won't be there this Tuesday (20th) as we've got to get ds2's blood test done. But we'll be there on 27th.

fisil · 14/06/2006 08:12

Oh, and I'm 32 too - but my boys are 1 and 3

The library sounds good - I didnt know about it. Does the age of your baby matter or is it a free for all? Let me know if anyone is going this coming Tue. Im new to the area so not very clued up on what is available - I'm Blakes Ave - anyone else close by?

Ala

fisil · 15/06/2006 19:06

Hi jura - I'm in Raynes Park.

Age of the baby doesn't matter. A 6/7 month old baby would love it - they could sit on your knee and giggle and clap along. My 1 year old wanders around enjoying it, my 3 year old joins in earnestly.

As I said, I won't be there next week as we are off to the hospital for blood tests. But the following week we will definitely be there.

Morning

I wondered if anyone could reccommend a good cleaner who would be able to do Friday mornings in New Malden.

Many thanks,

Ala

i would love to meet up with any of you who are still on maternity leave if anyone is keen. great tips about kinder cafe and library, will try those out soon! also, post natal class sounds great but dont know if my budget will stretch to a david lloyd membership at the mo. does anyone know any other good post natal classes??

RKottasz · 22/08/2006 14:33

Hi Daisy et al,

I'm another one of these women :-) - first time mum, new to New Malden. My baby is 2 months and will be on maternity leave until May 2007 - could meet up for a glass of wine or a coffee - live quite near to the High Street!

Hello!

We are moving to New Malden in October when I'll be 38 weeks pregnant (gulp). We are new to the area and I need to find a hospital for the birth! So far all I can find is Kingston Hospital - are there any others you can recommend in the area? Your help and local knowledge would be much appreciated!

Thank you!

daisyg · 14/09/2006 12:54

Hi Rita

i'm not far from the high street either. Maybe we can meet up in Puccino's one morning, its next to Al Forno's pizza place. They have a mums and babys offer every morning from 9-11 (free drink for little ones - not that thats much use to us yet!). I will try and remember to check this again soon.

Tifftiff, Kingston hospital ahould be fine for you. I had mine at St Georges in Tooting and they had no bed for me! But the Kingston midwives that came around to see me the week after birth were just lovley and i have heard really good things abaout the place. Dont know any other hospitals in the area. Good luck with the move!

Hi Daisy,

Sorry for the late reply...was on holiday for a few weeks. Ok. Let's meet at Puccino's if you're still up for it. How about next week some time? Am a bit reluctant to give my phone no and personal details on this site, but from now on I'll check this site more regularly to get your response....

See you soon.

R.

amywis · 05/10/2006 11:56

Hi all,

Hope all of you new to the area are enjoying New Malden. I live near the high street and have a seven month old boy, Theo ? he was born on 7 March, so just after Soapstar's baby Monty. I have just gone back to work four days a week. How is your return to work going, Soapstar?

(Bit of a random rant here. What p**s me off about Puccino's is that they advertise how baby friendly they are in their window but they haven't even got a baby changer in the WC. Bit crap if you ask me.)

Hi NM ladies,

My name is Sarah and I live close to you in Merton Abbey. I have an 8 month old baby boy and I am back at work full-time. I was wondering if any of you are interested in meeting up at the weekends? I am new to the area and would like to meet other new mums.

Let me know if you are interested.

Sarah

daisyg · 06/11/2006 22:14

Hiya

Sorry, i'm really bad at checking this! I know its a cliche but time is flying at the moment!!

Amywis, fair point about Puccinos. I reckon rather than trying to arrange a meet up on a specific day it might be easier just to aim to be at the same place at the same time. I'm planning to go to the Singing and Rhyme Time thing they have at New Malden library on Tuesday mornings tomorrow. Maybe thats a good option. We can do coffees etc as and when we actually find each other there!

Tifftiff, i hope everything went okay and you are doing okay with the new arrival!

Daisy,

Have just seen this (was actually going to go along to the library today, but the baby's eating schedule interfered :-)). I'll go to the library next week 14th Nov - hopefully catch up with you there. Rita
