Hi I'd love to meet mums in the Plymouth / South Hams area as I'm coming home after living abroad for the past two and a half years, and for my sanity would love to be able develop a group of friends not work related. My dd is 6months and I'm going back to work in 2 months...
Would be great to hear from anyone...

A couple of years on and off and my boys are 5, 2 and 9 months. So whats the story about the renovations? We are at the quote stage, have no idea how we are going to live in the house while its all going on. Gulp. I can't even get my head around what needs doing first and in what order...

shrub · 28/01/2006 22:02

need some therapy and lots of crystals

SarahOnTheRock · 28/01/2006 22:22

have had old 1 storey extensions knocked down and rebuilt whilst getting married, living in Gibraltar and pregnant and now new mum to dd, and the house is still not in a fit state to live in yet [nasty builoding inspector causing trouble] so will be living with my parents when first get home in Plymstock It's not too bad but would like to be in my own house before i'm back at work

Hope you have a good trip home Sarah. I am not too far from Brixton - in Ivybridge. I'm 39 and my youngest is 3. Oldest is 18 and two in between.
Hiya Shrub too.

cathie187 · 02/02/2006 22:11

hi, i moved to plymouth from lancashire about 6 months ago, i had a ds at 10 months

woosmummy · 02/02/2006 23:31

Hey, I'm in Plymouth - lived here forever but went away for work and i've just come back at christmas.

sharklet · 04/02/2006 23:02

Hey Sarah,

I'm a Wembury girl myself. Just down the road from Brixton (know the fish and chip shop there well) I don't live there anymore, we're in Wiltshire now - we'll be moving back eventually to the South Hams but not just yet.

Noticed your folks are in Plymstock... Did you go to school there? Plymstock? Coombe Dean? or were you a St Dunstans or DHS girl? Sorry for being nosey - just wondered if I know you of old as it were.

Emma xx

sharklet · 04/02/2006 23:03

Meant to say I'm a coombe Dean Girl myself. Class of 1990 - or 1992 if you count A-levels.

cathie187 · 05/02/2006 09:44

hi sharklet, im from rochdale origionally only moved here 8 months ago, although i think your around the same age as me 31/32?

mum2sam · 28/03/2006 09:05

Hi im living in Crownhill, in Plymouth and would love to hear from anyone who lives nearby and to arrange a meetup. I have a 17mth ds and a sahm at the moment.

macwoozy · 28/03/2006 09:17

Sharklet, if you went to Coombe Dean school, did you go to Goosewell Juniors as well? That's my old school although I'm a few years older than you. Also went to Plymstock comprehensive.
Hi SarahOnTheRock, shame I'm not still living there, I'd enjoy meeting up. Hope you settle in wellSmile

Hi

Pretty new to MN. Lived in Plymouth (the delightful Prince Rock!)since 1997 (moved here for Uni and have never looked back!). I have a 7 and bit month old son, 2 dogs, 2 cats....(1 hubby)....:o Have been back at work since Feb (bah!) and never quite got around to going to any mums and babies groups. We're the first of our group of friends to do the offspring thing...

woosmummy · 29/03/2006 16:00

Hi everyone, I'm in Higher ST.Budeaux/West Park, with a 13month boy. I'm a SAHM at the moment. I take him swimming at the Devonshire but other than that I find it hard to get inspiration for things to do - not sure I should take him to JFK's yet!

Any ideas for thimgs to do, or places to go?

Jessajam - it is so strange being the first of your friends to do the baby thing isn't it? - one of my friends is pregnant and keeps asking me things as if I'm some great mystical expert on them!

Jessajam · 29/03/2006 17:00

woosmummy- it is V strange, think I was bit of a novelty to them when I was just me with a large bump wandering about in pubs and at gigs...but now must admit to feeling a bit left out...most of friends are male and just about managing to be in a steady relationship (although a couple of them have just started co-habiting - with their gf's not each other....) Keep nagging dh to invite them over for a meal or something when he next sees them (am determined social life can still carry on in some form!) but it just hasn't happened yet....ho hum

woosmummy · 31/03/2006 13:28

ahhh, boy-mates are very strange. I've just spent a weekend with mostly male friends who wanted answers to many poo orientated questions and who actually wanted to look at photos and talk about my baby!- In the end I had to say I was having my first night out in a year and would prefer to drink beer and pretend not to be a mummy for a while if they didn't mind! Bless them.

I don't know many people in plymouth as I went to uni in southampton and then exeter, so mostly people are far far away from me.

I agree, some form of social life would be nice, if somewhat stressful to achieve. I live in hope

Jessajam · 01/04/2006 12:07

ideas for places to take lo's...how about the city museum...i know!...but it's free entry, there's an exhibit with loads of bugs, fossils and stuffed animals that are all morbidly fascinating, especially for little boys (sorry, don't want to reinforce gender stereotyping, just from observation!!)Plus, nice friendly security guard will help you up the steps with a buggy if you can't find the easy access way in around the back! Another freebie, if you exclude petrol, is Endsleigh Garden Centre! appartently they have a big collection of unusual pets like spiders and lizards...one friend said it was like the zoo, but free!

woosmummy · 01/04/2006 20:28

Endsleigh is great - my mum and dad take him there alot. - he always come home covered in crumbs so there must be good cake as well as animals!!

Sterotypes are based on something in my experience most little and not so little boys like horrid things.

I spent the afternoon in a museam in oxford with my friend because her boyfriend wanted to look at the shrunken heads and watch the bee hive for ages. Was cool and having a degree in biomedical sciences I am used to looking at minging things!
