Any new mums in the Rushcliffe area?

Hello there!
Just moved to Nottinghamshire a few months ago from way down south.
We moved when I was heavily pregnant to find antenatal classes all booked up and no room at the inn.
Now have a 2 month old and a 7yr old. I'm 25 and know no one!
Is there anybody out there?

rushcliffe? is that west bridgford area? my bf live in west bridgford, and i dont live too far away either.

oh and hello Rhian101!!

Rhian101 · 17/01/2006 13:24

Hello Blondie! West Bridgford is really close, I'm in Ruddington.
How's things?

things are going ok, what about u?
dd is laying on the settee next to me, chuckling away!! i live in sneinton, when i go into bridgford i usually walk and it takes me about an hour. but i dont walk fast, especially with a pram anyway!

have you got boys or girls? or either?

Rhian101 · 17/01/2006 14:29

Got 2 boys. They're great. I'm ok, but suffering from knowing nobody within 200 miles! All my family are in Wales, and I left my job and friends behind in Southampton. Finding it really hard to meet people, seems like everyhting's always booked up or I only find out about it after the fact!

i know the feeling, havent got that many people i call friends now. you certainly know who your friends are once you've had a baby.one of my mates live in kirky-in-ashfield which is miles out so dont get to see her much.
most of the time, its just me and baby in the day and then i go to work at night.
ive got a boring life!!! lol

Rhian101 · 17/01/2006 14:42

They're not much for conversation are they? lol
It's very sad when the highlight of your day is falling asleep!

lol, never sounds very exciting!
dd didnt impress me this morning, that was the highlight of today for me!

Rhian101 · 17/01/2006 14:53

So is it just the one that you have?

OP posts:
blondie82 · 17/01/2006 14:55

yep, just the one for me. shes 6 months next week. been told i'm not allowed another just yet!! another 5 years time then maybe. i dont mind though, at least i can enjoy her for a while. planning to take her on holiday before we start trying again

Rhian101 · 17/01/2006 14:58

Certainly no hurry! 7year gap between ds1 and ds2! Ds1 loves his little brother so i think a big gap works .

yeah, i wanna spoil my little princess for a bit first. we both adore her and would love a brother or sister for her

Rhian101 · 17/01/2006 15:04

It's lovely to just be able to focus on one isn't it? It's great having one at school and one at home as the days are just about baby and the evenings can be about DS1.

shes my mums first grandchild aswell so she spoils her rotten too.. i still live at home at the minute so she gets fuss from the 3 of us which i think she likes!!

we want to take her to Disneyworld, Florida. let her enjoy her first holiday on her own!

Rhian101 · 17/01/2006 15:12

Definately! The more attention the better.
I was still at home with my first and he still has a very close bond with my mum which is great. Think I'm really missing her support this time too.

still living with my mum has made it alot easier for me, especially at the beginning when the little one had colic. wouldnt have been able to cope on my own through that. it was tough!
how come you've moved to Nottingham? i've lived here all my life...

Rhian101 · 17/01/2006 16:08

Well, was brought up in Wales, moved to Southampton to go to uni, lived there 5 years. DH was working both here and abroad and with the new one on the way I wanted him here permanently! So he got a job up here and I left my job and friends to join him!
Has made things harder having no one to go and grab a cup of tea with etc.

cant believe im up at this time, dd usually sleeps through til about 7.30!!!!! aaarrrggghhh, and ive got work tonight aswell. doesnt help when the bf has to get up soon for work anyway and hes still in bed!! feels like i have to do everything sometimes.

Rhian101 · 18/01/2006 10:43

Poor you! Still waiting for mine to sleep through the night, sleep deprivation does bad things to me! DH seems to be able to sleep through anything, not that he can take over the breast feeding anyway, lol

OP posts:
blondie82 · 18/01/2006 11:03

i dont feel too bad now, but i know it'll catch up with me when im at work! im bottlefeeding so we can share that, but i still end up doing most of it anyway! really wish i breastfed now though. will definitely do that with my second....

Rhian101 · 18/01/2006 11:07

My first wouldn't bf at all, but ds2 is voracious. It's so nice not to have to mess about with sterilisers and bottles. try and grab some sleep if you can! am off to push a pram about - hope it doesn't rain on me
