I'm a London-based journalist working on a feature for the Financial Times about the rise in sales of counterfeit items on Vinted and other resale platforms. While counterfeiting activity used to focus on luxury goods (ie fake Gucci handbags), I'm finding that these days, anything desirable can be faked – which means that many well-meaning shoppers who think they're getting a bargain on a legitimate Sezane cardigan or Coach bag end up receiving poor imitations.
