Have you used a nannying or babysitting app and had a bad experience?
The other day I was chatting to a mum who’d hired a nanny through one of the newer nannying apps and was pretty shocked by what went on once she’d left her child in their care. It wasn’t at all the standard she expected - or felt she was paying for. But like so many parents, she’d turned to these apps because the cost of childcare had left her feeling desperate for an affordable option.
That conversation got me looking into this properly. When I started digging, I was surprised to find that on some of these apps DBS checks are optional, with passport ID often being the only requirement.
I’d really like to shine a light on this, but I need to hear from people who’ve experienced it themselves — no matter how big or small the issue was.
