Hi there,

We've received the following request.

Thanks,
MNHQ

Hello everyone,

I'm a documentary filmmaker currently working on a film that examines the gender and racial gaps in healthcare - specifically how women are systematically dismissed, misdiagnosed and under-researched across nearly every field of medicine.

I'm reaching out with deep care and respect in hopes of connecting with a woman who was diagnosed with cancer only after being dismissed or misdiagnosed, and who is currently undergoing treatment. I understand this is an incredibly personal and vulnerable time, and I want to be very clear: this is a big ask, and I do not take that lightly.

The intention of this film is not to sensationalise illness, but to humanise it - to help make visible the real consequences of medical bias and to advocate for change through lived experience. Participation would be entirely collaborative, consent-driven and centered on the comfort and boundaries of the person involved.

If this resonates with you, or if you know someone who may want to learn more, I would be grateful to connect privately and share more details. Please email [email protected]

I imagine this is a reference to women being labelled as having ‘hysteria’ rather than a genuine medical complaint. Relevant to the topic of the documentary.
