Scholarships has anyone managed to receive one as a mature student?

Im in my late 40's and will need to work up to the 67/68 like alot of people.

My current job is physically and emotionally labour intensive. I cover on-call too. Day to day work eats into evening and weekends. A gear shift into a less labour and friendlier hours (no more oncall) is what I'm thinking for these, later years.

I couldn't study and work. It would just be impossible.

I was thinking of an MBA in Business Administration and working a part-time job alongside it.

There are alot of If's lol

I would have to be granted an employment break. There is a policy and an application form.

I would need to secure a scholarship or apply for student finance or both

I would need to be accepted onto the uni course

And I would probably need to sell whatever I no longer absolutely need. The drop in pay would be an experience.

I would be living a bit of a student life.

Just to add, the MBA would open a whole new pay scale for me

If i could switch into the right jobs lol

I feel a bit of a new lease of life just even considering this

By its very nature, MBAs are suitable for mature students. Just taking Aston Uni as an example, its criteria for consideration are:

All scholarships are awarded on the basis of a recommendation to an award panel after interview. The criteria to be considered for a scholarship are:

(Candidates must demonstrate at least two of these three criteria):

  1. Evidence of very strong academic performance (at least Upper Second Class Degree or equivalent)
  2. Evidence of considerable management experience of at least seven years
  3. Strong evidence of a mindset, attitude and skill set which will contribute to the MBA cohort.

So why not go for it?!

Would your current employer not support your development?
