Advice on what I do next with this skillset...

I'm currently in a senior marketing role. I really dislike corporate culture and find leading teams/board discussions very stressful. It's also a very ageist sector.

I'm looking to retrain and change career but would love some suggestions and advice on what I can do next, ideally something that would sustain me for the next 20 years or so.

In terms of skillset clearly I have marketing skills, plus I'm a published author so I also have writing ability. But not keen on retraining as a copywriter or similar (partly due to the threat of AI) partly because it just doesn't appeal!

I would love a job that lets me help people, involves some time on my own and is somewhat future proof.

Speech therapy is one idea but I'd need to investigate training and options further.

I considered executive coach but my sense is that to do well nowadays you have to be very active on social media.

My other interests are anthropology and social history but not really sure what I can do with that??

Any help welcome.

Just saw your thread and thought I’d reply. You could do worse than look for a role in local authority/NHS comms. You could also go to a high level recruitment agency and ask them to help you make a list of your transferrable skills. In the public sector generally, there is loads of communicating with people about difficult issues and people with leadership skills can train eg with apprenticeships if in the right position.

Marketing in the public sector or a charity

Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists seem to have happy careers in my experience with plenty of job satisfaction from helping people. They don’t seem to be as disgruntled as other health professionals ( especially my own health discipline which is hated by the public). Seems to be a lot of autonomy in those roles too with little to none on calls. What are your qualifications though, that’s the million dollar question really.

Thank you. Speaking to a recruitment agency is a good idea too, hadn't thought of that.

Thank you. I think I want to get out of marketing entirely but could be something to consider.

I have a law degree but definitely don't want to do anything in that space. I have some mid-level marketing qualifications but not sure they'd be that helpful.

I don't mind retraining, main question is what!
