Retraining in my 30s/need to career change

I’ve been nannying for the past 12 years and it’s pretty much a dying industry at the moment. I really want a change and to use my brain and mind again, I’m so bored and unfocused all the time. I’m 32 so a lot of working years ahead!
I've got a degree in photography, but have never used it and wouldn’t know where to even start now.

Retraining wise, I’ve thought a lot about becoming a paramedic or a midwife, but the job market doesn’t look great? (I’m in central Scotland)
From the research I’ve done, it’s luck of the draw whether there will be any openings at all after graduation.
I’ve also considered the beauty industry, most likely nails or reflexology. But is it too over saturated?

Any advice would be much appreciated - or if anyone can point me in the direction of someone I can go and speak to about it all!

Many thanks if you’ve got this far 😊

You might want to consider the info contained here on the jobs market:

I qualified as a midwife this year, aged 40.

There will always be midwifery jobs and you should definitely go for it if it's something you are passionate about.

Thank you! Did you manage to find a permanent job with ease?

There will always be work for paramedics and midwives, especially in midwifery there is a national shortage. If you're willing to go back to uni then I'd definitely say go for one of them over beauty.

Yes! I got my job with the trust I trained at.

It is a hard course and the preceptorship period I think its slightly harder, for different reasons but my god, I LOVE my job and it fills me with such love and pride every day.

@UpUpUpU congratulations on completing your degree! Can I ask how old your children are if you have them? I have a place to study midwifery from September and would be almost 40 when I qualify. Career change from teaching.

@losingpatiencetoday Congratulations!

I have 1 son and I am a single parent. When I started he had just turned 3.

I was a school business manager before I retrained and it is so different! You are going to love it!
