Looking for ideas please 🙏

Willing to consider most things and I’m keeping an open mind! I don’t have a career at present, just work part time in a public facing (interesting) role, low pay, no opportunities for progression.

Job experience includes library work, museum work, art galleries and theatres. Looking for a complete change and better pay/progression opportunities. Thanks!

It sounds as if you’re well established in the Arts and Culture sector- why do you want a complete change rather than building on the experience you already have? Are there really no similar jobs that might offer more?

What are your qualifications and skills - and what level of retraining would you be looking at - degree, postgrad, professional training?

Thanks for your reply. Yes building on my current experience is a possibility too. There has been some opportunities in my current role however they are always full time roles and extremely rare.

My degree - BA Hons Theatre Studies and Acting.
Other experience- I run my own theatre company and work as a freelance playwright. There’s not a lot of money to be had in my line of work unfortunately although I absolutely love what I do.

Theatre and the arts is all I know although I am willing to remain open minded about changing careers. I am potentially looking at teaching drama (secondary) although I’ve heard terrible things about teaching!

A friend who was/is an actress has a successful business doing life/career/team coaching type stuff. Seems like a good fit for someone with a performance background

Ah … Nope, it’s not an easy area to get rich from. Tbh every single theatre professional I know undertakes some sort of regular paid employment on top of running their company and writing / producing work. It requires a ridiculous amount of energy.

What about drama therapy. I have no idea how to get into it. I just know it exists
