I have had a fairly varied career but the main industries have been a 15 year stint in merchandising (as in buying, not travelling around to stores arranging products) and 5 years in financial services. Both of these have aspects I like - organisational skills, multitasking, reporting, but one of my favourite things about merchandising was not having to take external calls from the general public! I left the industry because COVID was wiping retail out at a rapid pace.

I'm definitely at a crossroads. I like numbers and spreadsheets, don't really want to work alone or remotely, enjoy communicating with different departments in a business. I'm not sure where to go from here.

My first thought was data analytics, but if you enjoy planning and logistics, and dealing with diverse teams/ suppliers/contractors as opposed to the public (I fully understand this!) have you considered supply chain management? Keeping things on the road/ensuring that goods are available has been paramount since the pandemic.

Thank you! Yes, this is a great suggestion and exactly the sort of thing I'm looking for. I will look into it.

Glad it was useful, @Suzuki76 . I'd also look at event planning, logistics coordination, and a more unusual suggestion I saw on another thread - GIS (geographical information systems). I reckon anything where you can use planning and forward-thinking skills, as well as juggling a whole load of moving parts would work for you, OP.
