Career change at 40 - cybersecurity?

My background is in libraries and archives, I have a masters degree, and I currently work in an information / records management role. I've recently become interested in cyber security and wondered whether it was a realistic career change. I don't have any IT experience, so I imagine that the first steps would be a mixture of training (maybe CompTia? Boot camps? Code girls?), followed by an entry level IT helpdesk job. I don't get paid much atm, so I'm not too worried about starting at the bottom, but I would want career progression to be reasonably quick. Anyone have any experience in this field? Or general thoughts? My other thought was going more into data protection / information governance. Thanks.

M25 are actively recruiting in my area but possibly nationally. Google M15 careers they have various graduate programs which sound perfect for you. The ads have been popping up when I'm online and they are specifically interested in recruiting women and minorities.

MI5, not M25!

I'm in IG in the NHS and we really struggle to recruit to posts. The foundation course in GDPR is worth looking at as a starting point.

There is crossover with the cyber aspect and it's getting bigger. Once you have experience in one there would be so many transferable skills

I was in data protection/information governance for 10 years but I left quite recently as I found senior opportunities were very limited. Basically only the NHS and big universities, round here anyway.

I did look at moving into cyber, it sounds really interesting, you have to be quite geeky and into keeping up with industry developments almost as a hobby.
