Calling all HR trained people!

Hi ladies

I’m looking to retrain - currently on mat leave as a manager for a non for profit org.

wanting to change career as managing a team just isn’t for me anymore - well not at the moment anyway.

I love the people management side of things just without actually managing anyone … I.E I enjoy recruitment, appraisals, disciplinaries etc etc

I really feel HR would be a great fit for me. As my company is non profit it does mean that they don’t often pay for courses unless it will benefit them - in this case it won’t as I’d be looking to leave my current department so my directors will never approve.

id have to retrain in my own time and with my own money which is fine. I would look at leaving the company to work in a HR admin role but at the moment I need job security as my daughters father has left me and I need a steady income.

sorry rambling - main question is - those who have retrained in HR what course provider did you use? I have seen a few online with very varying costs and really unsure who to go with. All CIPD accredited but the cost different is alarming.

would appreciate some advice! Many thanks

I used ICS learn and I would definitely recommend it! I’m not sure how the pricing compares to others (I think it was about £3000 for level 5).

I liked how flexible it was, you could join lectures live or watch them recorded later on. The teachers were very helpful and responsive. I found the work quite challenging for the first module and was quite daunted but managed to press on with the constructive feedback I received from the teachers and really found my groove. It took me 18 months to finish level 5.

I found the course itself really interesting, varied and that it covered a wide range of HR aspects. There are so many elements to the field as you said, it’s cool to be able to tailor your assessment projects to the areas you are most interested in,

good luck!!

I used Acacia learning for level 5, i finished in Jan 2018 after 9/10 months. I attended a weekly evening class after work for 3 hours each time. I did one assignment per month, apart from one month where i did two modules and two assignments in one month because of scheduling issues, it was hard work doing it at the same time as working full time. However, i have little motivation to do it at home by myself! My employer paid and at the time it was around £3600.
