Hello I'm a qualified history teacher with a 2 and a half year old and 1 year old. I don't want to go back to teaching in September but I don't know what else I can do for work. Happy to retrain. My ideal job would be for 2/3 days a week, ideally wfh.
Thank you!

Bump! Can anyone advise any careers that I could move in to?

Depending on how much retraining you're willing to do- I'm a speech and language therapist and work with adults. I went back to uni when I was 30 with two young children, was 3 years full time to qualify but worth it and I started my newly qualified year part time and now work 3 days, it's not wfh but I often do visits in the morning and then notes etc from home.
Reason I suggest it - is LOADS of transferable skills from teaching and about half my course had been teachers, most went into working with children

Thank you, that's really useful to know and a career I hadn't thought of.

What about teaching do you want to leave behind?

What about teaching do you want to leave behind?

The long hours spent on training/parents evenings/marking and travel.

Have you looked at Supermums and Salesforce training? Very flexible and potential for decent pay, although not sure how many reach that potential.

Bear in mind that if you want to return to university for a new qualification you do not need another first degree. You would probably be welcomed with open arms on any Master’s course you can make a case for. And in most cases (assuming you don’t already have one) a Government Postgraduate Loan would cover your fees.

Master's Loan

Get a postgraduate master's loan to help fund a full-time or part-time master's degree: find out if you're eligible and how much you can get.
