I'm toying with the idea to try and retrain in tech. I'm almost 40 with a toddler and a baby on the way so it's probably too late but I don't mind doing some online courses in my free time.
The problem is that I don't know which type of career I would enjoy the most. I've done a few beginner courses over the last 20 years or so (C++, C#, Python, SQL and VBA for work). I did Python for data analysis and machine learning, as this is closest to my current career, but I didn't enjoy it much, it was too much statistics and too little programming.
What I liked from the other courses was building something complex with different functions, classes etc, problem solving, trouble shooting. I don't care much about design and UX, I prefer making things work.
Any advice on which type of career in tech I could pursue? And would I have any chance of landing a job without a degree or experience?
