Exam in a language?

I'm learning Spanish and have always thought if you're doing to do something you might as well try and get a certificate in it in case for future career opportunities.

This is the first language I have learnt (school didn't have the teachers for GCSE) and I don't know what qualification would be best to work towards.

Is it common to go for GSCEs and then A levels? Or the DELE?

Hola! Can I ask what study materials you are using? I am using a cd and also duolingo. Adios

I would go for the DELE as it is internationally recognised.
Good luck

I did Italian GCSE in a year at my local adult education centre - one evening a week. But this was a while ago and many adult education places won’t offer courses for hobbyists like this any more.

I'm doing Duolingo and listening to coffee break Spanish. Lots of colleagues are Spanish so I'm also attempting to practice in person too

I did Spanish at evening classes, GCSE then AS-level. Not enough if us for them to run A2. We did the exams in one of the local colleges as external candidates.

Language exams often have 4 papers - reading, writing, speaking, listening. So it's often not just one exam.

DELE would be better for your purposes. GCSE and Alevel syllabuses are designed for teenagers and you'd have to do lots of things that wouldn't be relevant to you or how you want to use the language.

I'd always look for the national CEFR linked qualifications for any language, so DELE here.
