Hi there,
Has anyone done the part time PGCE course at St Mary’s? I’m really keen but have two children (2 and 5) and wondering how manageable the workload will be.
Any info on how much time you’re at university and how long the placement days are please?
Also applying to Roehampton and Kingston for the FT course so any feedback on these would also be amazing!
Thanks so much.

Hi there I did my PGCE 11 years ago now but hope I can help.

Uni was 9-5 every day, plus assignments on top of this.

Placement was usually 7:30-5:30, plus studies on top of this. It's a very intense course but I found the hours to be reflective of term time work in school. I am no longer teaching now.

My pgce year and first year of teaching were the hardest I’ve ever worked in my life. I honestly don’t think I would have coped if I had children at the same time.

I didn’t know you could do a part time PGCE. Would they still charge you £9k each year in tuition fees?

Look at the OU. The course used to run for 18 months so the academic work was manageable. However, the placements were not p/t but f/t,
