Hi all,

I'm looking for some advice from anyone who has studied this area or just knows!

I'm a mature student (30s). Currently a sahm with young children looking to retrain ready for when I head back to work. I decided I wanted to do something I loved rather than just go back into the same grind I was in previously (hospitality). I have a BA degree from when I was younger but not related to the sciences at all, and have a levels BBC.

Firstly, regarding funding does anyone know if the nhs funds dietetics courses? I'm finding the online information confusing. Also, would I be eligible for a second student loan?

More specifically related to the course itself, has anyone studied dietetics part time or distance learning? All of the courses I've seen state full time, which I think I would struggle to do with my DC.

Thank you x

Hi! Yes I have done my year one in dietetics & taken a year out to have another baby eek! Going back in September.

The nhs don't fund it, you still need to get student loan etc. But you get 5000 a year grant from the NHS and as a parent you received more student finance so it works out as being roughly 19000 a year.

There are many mature students on my course that have done nothing science related prior to it. There's a lot of support as there's only 30 odd on the course.

I say go for it if you can!
