Hi. I'm considering starting this course. Does anyone have any experience of it? I'm wavering because of the cost/time commitment/self-discipline. My kids are all older teens/20 so I have more space for me in theory, but I have some up coming family commitments which will be time consuming for a couple or few months. However I'm fascinated by the subject and have read quite widely around it. Would really appreciate other perspectives on this!

I studied Classics, it's amazing, eye opening and I still use my learnings today, particularly in the parts of my job that require writing and analytical thinking.

For me, Ancient Greece gives more than Rome - the birthplace of democracy, mathematics, theatre, medicine.

I always enjoyed literature and history more than archeology which is very dry.

Go for it and don't look back! It will give you a whole new perspective on our world.

No but I’ve studied with the OU and I would advise you to study part time (60 credits a year) as the courses are so intensive, in my experience

Thanks Dramatico, it's a subject I really enjoy in my spare time and would like to follow some more structured learning, I feel I know a bit about quite a lot, but it's very scattered. And yes, Greece over.Rome for me too, their originality and weirdness!

Annaishere, that's a good point. I'd looked at average study times and realised there's no way I could do 120 points in a year!
