Teacher training + living abroad

So I don't live in the U.K.

I would like to train as a teacher.

I would like to train with iPGCE and iQTS but I can't find a placement where I currently live.

So, I have seen a few roles advertised here that ask for PGCE only.

Would it be a good idea to do an online PGCE from abroad, whilst applying for teaching roles all the while?

Then with my PGCE qualification, I would be more likely to land a teaching role / placement and I could then start iQTS?

Am I going about this all the wrong way? I just can't see a way in applying for placements to study iQTS.

Advice would be hugely appreciated from those in the know.

I don't understand how you could complete a PGCE online as it involves teaching practices.

What are iPGCE and iQTS? The PGCE is a postgrad qualification that includes placements in schools. It's a UK qualification so placements need to be in UK schools. Once you have a PGCE you have QTS - qualified teacher status. The PGCE is the qualification. Confused

Or do you mean the two years of post qualification teaching you need to be counted as no longer a newly qualified teacher (NQT) - although the term has now changed to ECT (early career teacher)?

I investigated this, I would be very wary of doing the iPGCE without a school payment. They are designed with practice in mind. Are there schools that you can volunteer at that may become an option for longer term placement?

Isn’t an iPGCE for experienced EFL
teachers? It doesn’t give you QTS.

What is an online PGCE-I can’t see how that could possibly work? You need to be in a classroom, teaching children!
