Spousal inheritance and student finance question. Help

MrsBarbaraLangerhans · 20/06/2023 21:18

Evening all. Currently reapplying for finance for second year of a degree. My husband has received an inheritance since the first application. Does this have to be declared as income does anyone know? or is it just any interest earned on it? Am really not sure of the rules around this and do not want to get it wrong.
Thank you for anyone light you can shed on this.

Do you know what, I have found asking MN about divorce issues over money especially results in lots of nonsense or misinformed posts.

Also quite a few spiteful almost misogynistic posts like how dare you expect anything regarding financial security from your long marriage?

I'd talk to your solicitor only about your circumstances.

Rummikub · 22/06/2023 11:42

Just the interest is counted as income.

This has nothing to do with divorce

This OP isn't about divorce. There was one paragraph to read.

I'm guessing this was posted on the wrong thread? 😃

BlastedPimples · 22/06/2023 11:53

Eeek sorry. Thought this was on divorce thread.

Sorry op.

Rummikub · 22/06/2023 11:57

Luckily you did post as it wouldn’t have appeared in active.

BlastedPimples · 22/06/2023 11:58

Not much good posting nonsense- the very thing I was bitching about. 🙄

Rummikub · 22/06/2023 12:03

Op will return thinking she has lots of replies!

JeandeServiette · 22/06/2023 12:05

No. Capital isn't income. You're okay.

MrsBarbaraLangerhans · 22/06/2023 20:01

I checked this the other night and no replies, and today apparently I am getting divorced....
Thank you for the confirmation that it is the interest only that is counted as income.
